I will be finishing up finals this week. Our school tells us that we should take our exam ASAP as extra study is really not needed, as they believe the program has us well prepared. I would like to know if there are people out there that have passed with minimal preparation. Mind you, I will be studying my butt off as soon as finals are over, but I will register to take the exam as fast as possible. It's just that I read of so many people on AN that describe what I see as strenuous study regimens and I am a bit intimidated.
I could see passing without intense studying after graduation, as I've been studying for the NCLEX since the beginning of my first semester, mostly with LWW's NCLEX-RN 10,000 question online program. I have a while to go before graduation, but by that point I will have studied for nearly 2 years. I'll be taking the NCLEX as soon as I can schedule it.
It's been ~3.5 years since my last post on this thread but I thought it'd be useful to provide an update. I ended up switching programs which delayed my graduation by 2 years and continued studying nclex style questions throughout both programs.
In the last month of my program I started playing with NCSBN Learning Extension's review program, figuring it would be useful to be acclimated to questions written by the same people that write the NCLEX. Upon finishing the last semester my school had everyone do a 3 day live review with an ATI instructor, 6+ hours per day with a manual to review afterward. We had proctored tests throughout the 5 semester program and were shown how to do focused reviews on whatever areas we were weakest on. After the review I studied for an hour or two per day for a few days, then I went to a nursing conference and for the last two weeks before taking the NCLEX I barely answered any questions or reviewed material, feeling there wasn't much left to do.
To bring my mind back to NCLEX readiness I did a single 90 minute practice test two days before the real thing. Upon walking into the Pearson Vue office, taking it slowly, 75 questions and 90 minutes later I was done. Less than 48 hours later my state board of nursing emailed me a copy of my RN license :-) Just as planned 3+ years ago, I took the test on the first day I was allowed. So glad to be done with that part so I can move on.

Hi! I graduated from my program on May 12, got my ATT on May 27, and took the NCLEX the very next day. I haven't gotten my official results yet but I tried the PVT after more than 48 hrs and did get the good pop up. I didn't really do anything to prepare other than the ATI exams required for my program, and I did a few (maybe around 100) practice questions from the NCLEX Mastery app. I was planning on studying more but when I saw that I could schedule my exam for the very next day I just wanted to get it over with lol. I figured since I just graduated everything should still be fresh in my mind.
My exam shut off after 75 questions. I will let you know whether I passed (:
Good luck!
