Hi, I am new to this forum and I am wondering if anyone has graduated from mcc in lowell the 2 year rn program. Also if anyone is in the middle of the program or applying for it. I am applying for 2010 evening program. I completed my prereqs already. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts bout it. Also what is a good bsn program to follow through with. Please reply with any thoughts or comments. Thanks. Erin

Wow!!!!!!!! I can not believe that! Seriouly!? That is crazy. Was this e-Mail because you called yesterday? ... Hopefully some of the people who applied in 2007 have found other programs and will decline there start date. Since you have taking all the non nursing clases is you did day you could probably do fund nur clinical one am and lab the other? If you switched to days , or is there no way you could miss 2 days of work during the week? The waiting process stinks I'm sorry!!!!! Well get there!!! I think that is rediculous though. So long!!have you applied anywhere else?

i havent applied anywhere else because no other college has an evening weekend program. i took my prereqs a while ago when i lived at home with my parents in lowell. now i live in danvers with just my 9 year old daughter and myself so i am limited with what i can do during the day. clinicals start at 7am and i cant do that because she has school at 815am. only the night time will work. i do hope some of those people decline, although if they are at all like me, they will still be waiting. i do plan to wait as long as i have to i guess. i hope atleast i get in for the 2011 class... i still cant believe it though, it kind of makes me mad.it gives people false hope when they complete the admissions process that they will get in quickly. when i went to the info session they did not mention the wait to be that long. well alot of people will be disappointed when they find out 2010 is full. im sure everything will work out for you tho. day students have an easier time getting in the semester they choose i believe. well i am still looking forward to getting the letter in the mail. that will be proof of hopeful acceptance into the program. :)

Hi Erindel - That is ridiculous that the wait list is so long. Thats the one thing about these nursing programs is that there are too few programs and too many people wanting to get in. Last June when I applied for LPN at GL Tech there were over 100 people taking the NET - of that 100 they were choosing 8. You figure there are 10 testing sessions, so over 1000 people testing for 80 slots (40 day, 40 nite) ABSURD! I figured going the LPN - RN route would be easier to get into. But I just found out today that I got in for Aug 2010!! But back to you - since you want to be an RN and already have your pre reqs - couldnt you try to go straight to BSN? I think Salem State has a part time option (you live on the North Shore like me right?). You should look into BSN programs because you might get in faster and even be done before even starting at MCC! Good Luck!

Hi sawyer 12, congrats on your acceptance to the lpn program! I'm glad they let u know now instead of waiting. I remember when u were trying to get in a few months ago. How was the cna course u took? Do u like working as a cna? I know the wait is crazy for the rn program. On the website for mcc it says they are still apps for the fall 2010 evening program. They should change that. Salem state is closer for me but I would have no one to watch my daughter for me while I'm in classes. My parents live in lowell so they would be able to watch her while I'm there. Classes are thurs and fri nights and clinical every sat 7 to 1. Man it totally stinks to wait so long but I will. By the time I get in u could probably be doing the lpn to rn bridge program at mcc! I am so happy for u tho! I wonder how the other girls are doing now at gl tech. Their finals should be coming up soon. Can you get ur books early now that u were accepted? That would be good to find out what to look at ahe

ad of time. Hope to talk again soon... :)

Hey Erindel...thanks for the congrats....I am glad they let me know right away too because there is this huge stress lifted off of my back. Loved the CNA course - I am awaiting my test date from the Red Cross. I have been applying to hospital CNA positions but havent heard anything so I am probably going to have to go the Nursing Home route. Which is fine esp after the clinicals for class - I am not scared anymore!

Have you researched Northern Essex CC to see if they have a part time rn program? They are pretty close to Lowell. It stinks having to wait so long to get in 2012 is just crazy when they accept you in 2009!!

I wonder about the girls that are already at GL Tech - we formed a bond from the summer and I was bummed when I didnt get in. I hope they are doing well. I wont get a list of books for a while but I signed up for a medical terminology online class and I'll prob get a fundamentals book just to start preparing. Good luck to you!

Bummer on the waitlist .. sorry to hear that.. what about about Essex CC.. or Mount wachusett ?

I have looked at necc program but I'm not sure if my parents will travel to danvers to watch my daughter. Its easier for me to stick to mcc since its near where my parents live. It stinks for me to have to be so selective with certain programs I would rather attend a day program instead. Did u get in for the day or evening program? I know beverly hospital is looking for many cna positions. I myself am looking for a job right now. It is so hard getting into healthcare. I lost my job over the summer due to an illness and surgery. I used to work in pediatrics. Again, congrats and I hope you find a job soon... goodluck with ur cna test.

Hi wnt2banurs- I have looked at northern essex evening program but its a little out of the way for my parents to watch my daughter. They live in lowell and that's were middlesex cc is located. I just hate knowing I have another 2 yrs to wait. I know there are many people out there experiencing the same situation. I guess I can work more and save money over those 2 yrs. Have you applied anywhere or r u already in a nursing program?

I am currently on the " Waiting list of qualified applicants" at MCC, for the day program, as well. The last time I spoke to someone over the phone I was told, "maybe Spring 2011 but probably more like the Fall 2011." I have micro and stats and anthropology left to take so I am keeping my fingers crossed for Spring 2011.

LynM75- When was your application considered complete? I am also on the waitless for the day nursing program at MCC. My application was marked complete in March2009. I am hoping to start Fall2010...

Hi lynm75- I have micro left to take. When did u apply for the program? When was ur app complete? Isn't that a long wait?! I do plan on waiting though. I didn't know the day had that long of a wait as well. Do u work in healthcare now? I'm trying to decide when to take micro. Maybe either over the summer or next fall since I know I won't be in classes next sept. Do u know we will get our letters either in dec or jan? I can't wait just to get it in writing. :)

Erinlee, maybe u should call the nursing dept and ask how long the wait is for the day program even tho u had ur app complete since march 2009. I would be curious just to know.
