Anyone know about nursing schools in Europe?

Hello All,

this is my first post! I am very excited about a future in nursing. I am looking to start nursing school, preferably in Europe, since my boyfriend (an Austrian) and I are attempting to live at least on the same continent. I am an American with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, and ultimately would like to become a nurse practitioner. I am researching the feasibility of getting an associates degree (RN) in Europe, and what hoops I would have to jump through to be able to practice in the US.

Does anyone have any information on this?

I don't know the answers to your questions but here are a couple of links that might be helpful. This one https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/ is to the International Nursing forums. There may be information there for schooling. This link https://allnurses.com/forums/f196/ is to the Nursing Student Forums. Please feel free to browse around and ask your questions there. You may be able to obtain much more information there.

Good luck to you!

depends on which country you want to go to. You will be classed as an international student and fees will probably be high and you will have to go through immigration for apermit which will allow study and may permit you to work als. Some countries require a residence of 2-3 years before price goes down

Most countries in Europe do not have the two year Associate degree that we have. You will also need to meet the language requirement of the school where it is located by actually sitting for language exams, just like a foreign student needs to do to attend in the US.

Most programs in Europe are at least three years. And to work in the US, you would not have any immigration issues, but you would always be considered a foreign grad in any state and have to meet the requirements that foreign grads do. Some states will require that you actually write the CGFNS exam. Or you may need to go thru the CES process for a credentials eval before you will be permitted to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam. And if you are wishing to go for the NP, you will definitely need to go thru the CES before you will get admitted to any grad school.

You are actually going to make it much more difficult on yourself to do it this way. And tuition will be very expensive for you. Much higher than you can imagine.
