I'm looking into the LPN program at the Lorain CCC (held at the Medina Career Center). I was wondering if anyone had any reviews or had heard anything about it?

I heard it is great. I go to LCCC, but am still doing support courses for the RN program. You do have to live in Medina County, and already be a STNA or take a 3 week nurse aid course at LCCC (Elyria Campus) prior to applying. They only admit once per year (fall) and the application deadline is January for the following fall.
Thanks :) How do you like LCCC in general?
I LOVE it! I have taken classes in the past at Akron, Case, and Tri C. LCCC is by far the best in my opinion. My teachers are awesome! The only problem I have it their wait for the RN program. If you do not have every class done but clinicals, it is very hard get in the program. So that is why I am still taking support classes. I will be done this summer with support classes, and I will be going some where else if I am not in yet. I do not want to wait much longer! I do not think they have a wait for the LPN program at Medina, so you should be fine.
Are you taking classes anywhere right now?

Good to hear that! :) I was looking at Tri-C but I'd be spending forever working out my math courses before I could even jump into anything else according to their requirements. So I'm looking at other options. I'm taking my CNA class right now- it's a pre-req for their LPN program and I wanted to jump into the field right away. :) I plan to pick up some pre-req's this summer and fall.
Sounds like a great option. When I was looking at the program, they told me to apply ASAP before Jan. So I would apply as soon as you are done with your CNS class. They did tell me that sometimes they have spots open right before the Fall semester starts, so maybe you could even start this fall even though you have missed the deadline. They also told me that they will start nursing classes at the new LCCC Brunswick campus very soon. That is great, since I could almost walk to that campus!!
Also, where are you taking the CNA at? I am thinking about doing that while I wait to start the RN program.
I'm taking the class at Polaris in Middleburg- it's about $900 for the course, but they are a testing site and I hear alot of good things about them. The cost includes everything but scrubs for clinicals from what I understand. It starts the 10th- (still a bit of time if you wanted to jump in- not much, but...) :)

I am in the LCCC program right now at Medina. I put in my app. Aug. 2007 (for the Jan. 2008 deadline) and got in the Fall of 2008. There were some who still had some of the support courses to take but they ended up dropping out because it was too much to do all at once. I would suggest you take all the support courses and a med. term class (not required) before if you really want to do well. My instructors are really great and genuinely want us to all succeed. Any other questions I would love to answer them.

tcowie, I wish someone would have suggested the med. term classes to me! LOL! It would have helped a lot! I really like the program at LCCC~ Medina. I am about to start my last support class for LPN and I am waiting to hear if I have been accepted to the clinicals this fall. I am nervous and excited! Good luck to ALL of us future Nurses!!!
