Hi everyone! I just found this forum and I think it's great! nice place to network and seek any help we may need. Al bit about myself is in order I guess. About 2 years ago I decided I needed a change in careers, and after talking to a few nurses, one in particular who is a male cousin of mine who has been a trauma nurse for years, I decided to take the plunge! I have attended college, not too seriously mind you, in the distant past, just a class here and there, but I must say that attending school full time has been great and really fun. The prereqs for the nursing program were really interesting and the science behind it all is fascinating and enlightening; there are so many things that I didn't know about the Human body that these classes made clear. Well anyway I don't want to talk too much and bore everyone, but I do have a question or 2 if you don't mind me asking. When it comes to acceptance into CSU Stan's nursing program, does anyone know when or in the case of not being admitted, if, the notifications for the fall 2011 semester go out? I know that at the community colleges if you make the acceptance pool then your name is drawn by lottery ( I don't understand the reasoning behind this because qualifying with only a B average gives no incentive to excell) which prompted my decision to apply for the program at CSU. Another question I have is whether or not I will be competitive, I have an overall gpa of 3.97, a science gpa of 4.0 and a non science gpa of 3.85 or so. My only concern is my TEAS 5 score, I took it last minute and only scored an 85.6. It was my first attempt and I was dissapointed, so my question is, should I just write-off my chances for acceptance this fall semester, re-take the TEAS and re-apply for the spring semester or is there hope? I live in the service area but don't speak any language other than English, and have never worked in healthcare before. Any honest answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i think your gpa and teas are fine. you're probably at the top of the applicant pool to be honest. i'm eager to hear if anyone has any insight into when decisions come out?
