Anyone know anything about Vasovagal Neurally Mediated Syncope?

i've always thought it was a neurocardiogenic type of syncope, with the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems playing major roles...

Yeah, NCS (Neurocardiogenic Syncope) is right. It often goes along with similar conditions like dysautonomia (autonomic nervous system dysfunction) and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). FYI: This is a diagnosis that can be tossed around freely when an MD can't figure out what else is going on. I see NCS on thousands of medical reports post car accident related to a loss of consciousness. Many MDs are so worried about calling an event a seizure they hop on this without much investigation. When I call the MD (and I do) they often say: "Oh, I didn't know what else to call unexplained fainting".

Just my experience.....

Ditto! This is TEXAS for goodness sake!!

Also, if that's not enough info for you I know of some other links as well... And I definitely agree with it being a thrown around dx for unexplained fainting - unfortunately it makes it really difficult for the people who actually DO have NCS, but that's another story...
