Hi, I have moved back to south Florida after moving around the country for a bit... and I am seriously considering working for Memorial Regional as a nurse. Can anyone who works there, or who has worked there give me some insight in to the way administration treats nurses, etc? Any tid bits on the subject would be greatly appreciated:nurse:

It's an HCA hospital...do a search for information on HCA hospitals on the boards...I think you will find it verrrry interesting.
Not that I can say it's all facts but I can tell you I work for their business office and can't say that it's been my favorite experience they are all about bringing in profit and paying low salaries
But please please please go meet with them and form your own opinion...Good Luck and let us know how it works out!:nuke:

Memorial Regional Hospital is NOT owned by HCA. It's part of the Memorial Regional Healthcare system -- not-for-profit. The ED is among the busiest in Broward County, but I've heard good things about the hospital in general.
Seems to be a good place to work. Memorial Healthcare has a bunch of hospitals in South FL. Other options are Memorial West (just got Magnet), Memorial Miramar (built in last 3 years, very high-tech) or any of the sister facilities.
Can you please tell me why it sucks there? Any examples?
I was thinking Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville...sorry

there are some pros and cons about it:
pros:
1. depending on your unit, there should be plenty of overtime
2. weekend nights have great differentials
3. not too bad of a location (depending on where you live)
4. not that big and patient load isn't too bad
cons:
1. DOC (department of corrections has a contract with memorial) - so you have to take care of some really bad shape folks
2. some doctors do not treat nurses with respect
3. not the cleanest hospital i've seen =T
4. not a research hospital nor a teaching hospital
soo...if you really want a place where you will have lots of work to do...then memorial is a good place...
if you are are coming from a place like Duke University hospital...then this truly is NOT what you are looking for...:typing
