:yeah:Hey everyone, I just got my acceptance letter last week for Trumans program and am super excited!! I really want to meet people that got accepted as well!!! If you got your letter, post here!

I just recieved my letter today and I cannot even believe I got in. I had almost given up hope that I would get in to nursing school. I also just accepted new position working nights and got in to the evening program so we'll see how it works out. Luckily I only have to take the core nursing classes, I have already completed all of the gen ed and prereqs. YEAH:yeah:

Congratulations!!! I am so happy I got in as well. I wonder how many people applied because everyone I know that applied got in, which is wierd considering I thought it was pretty competitive. I guess it is because of the lottery, I know they accepted 180 students this year. Doesnt matter, were in!!!!! woo hoo!!!!:lol2::yeah::up::specs:

Congratulation everyone:yeah:How long did it take you to get in?What prereq's did you have done?

I think they did accept 180 people. I still can't believe I finally got in. Do you hava all your prereqs and gen eds gonnabeanurse? Are you in the day or evening program?

I am in the day program. I will have everything but the core nursing classes done before the program starts, I am taking Anatomy 227 and Micro 233 now. I wonder how many people applied this year?? Are you in the day or evening program? Did you finish all of your gen eds?

I have everything done, all psych, math, english and sciences. I am thinking of taking pharm over the summer. It's going to be much easier only having to take one class the first two semesters. Are you going to try to work while you're in the program?

I've been doing that for couple of semesters, working 40+ hours and taking 1 class. I could handled it fine before but I'm not so sure with Nursing 101. I will try and if it's not working out, then I'll cut my work hours down to 30+. I just started my job as an CNA in the outpatient clinic. I like working there. I think the experience I'll gain from my job will help me with the nursing skills during clinical and better understanding of the lecture materials. :D

Where do you work. I work for ambulatory at a pediatric hospital and it is a lot of fun. I just took a new job on an inpatient floor. I am very excited and nervous. I have always worked full time and gone to school but so many people try to make it seem impossible. I guess we will see.

Yes I have a full time job and plan on working 32 hours while in the program, I dont think it will be too bad. They are offering pharm over the summer at Truman, I was thinking of taking it as well. I also bought a bunch of books about surviving nursing school and test taking strategies for nursing students that I plan on reading up on over the summer to prepare myself!!!

Are you a CNA? i was thinking of becoming certified and working as a CNA while in school but I also heard that once your in a nursing program some hospitals will hire you as a tech without being certified, have you ever heard of that?? I was also concerned about the hourly pay as I heard CNA's only make around 9-12 dollars an hour, which is less then I make at my current job. In addition, is your job paying for school for you? I may be willing to take a pay cut to have my tuition paid for!!

Hi everyone, congrats on making it into the program!!!!

I'm currently a student at truman too. I'm thinking about applying for the upcoming year. I just looked at the ranking system and how they rank you by the pre-req and other required courses, and use GPA as the tie breaker or something like that. what is everyone's ranking points?

I still have to take Anatomy I this summer with Prof. Siddiqi, and Chem 101, Anatomy II and MIcrobio in the fall so i still have some courses ahead of me. Any word of advice from everyone?

I am a CNA, I don't know about $9 an hour, I never made that little even at my first job. Yes, you can be hired as a student nurse after completing fundamentals 1. The pay is more for sudent nurses so I will get a raise after the first semester. Any employee budgeted to work at least 72 hours a pay period gets $5000 a year for tuition reimbursement.

I am a 1985 graduate of Truman, great school. Good Luck everyone from Truman
