Hey there!
I just wanted to ask you about the application process for LBCC. When was the cut-off date? Did you have to have all A's in the pre-reqs? any info you can give me would be much appreciated!

Hi Kelly!
LBCC usually does their application for Spring during June-August, and Fall during January-March. One requirement that they just started last year is taking somekind of computer processing class. It's a graduation requirement, and the RN dept decided that they wanted that to be a prereq along with the Eng 100, Microbiology, Physiology, Anatomy, and Eng 100. The comp class I took at LBCC was CPAS 10. It's a really easy class, strictly online for like 4 weeks I think. I didn't take my prereqs at LBCC, I took mine at GWC. I got 2 A's, a B, and a C in my prereqs. I got an alternate spot on my first try, BUT they didn't take any alternates last semester, which is why I am starting this Fall 09. Some advice that I can give....I spoke to a counselor at LBCC when I turrned in my app (they need to look at your classes from other schools to see if they accept them before u can turn in your app) and she told me that their RN program usually accepted students that had most of their GE's done first. They like to know that their RN students will just be focusing on their nursing classes. So my suggestion, get most or all of your GE's done, then get that comp class done before you apply. ALSO, they require you to take a reading assesment test so make sure you schedule one of those too and have that done before u apply as well. Good luck to u and if u have any other questions I'll be glad to help!

I just finished my first semester of nursing school at LBCC! Good luck and congratulations to all incoming nursing students for fall...:heartbeat
If you are an alternate, don't fret...I know of at least 10 students last semester that got alternate letters and then were called later for a spot in the spring semester. Btw, the due date for spring 2010 applications is July 30th. The computer class requirement started in 2006 and there are a few classes you can take in the summer that can fulfil this. Check the computer science department for a one day test. One student last semester took an equivalency exam for computer proficiency and passed before applying to the program...I wish I had know about it. Have most of your GE classes done before starting the program because you will be too busy during the fall/spring semester with required nursing lecture/clinicals and skill lab. Although it is not a requirement to have all GE classes done before applying...just your english/anatomy/physiology/micro and GPA of 2.5 in the sciences. Most of my friends are taking their psych or sociology or history during summer school.
No need to spring for the PDA just yet...its better used for 11B and later. 11A and 11AL is mainly fundamentals of nursing. Clinical instructors will teach you the basics (taking vitals, changing a bed, foley cath insertion, etc.). So take a deep breath and get all the rest you need before August 17. Take care...
