RNKitty,
I live in Jacksonville which is about 1.5 hours from Gainsville. It is a college town, "Go Gators" The major hospital there is "Shands", which is a good teaching hospital, lots of trauma. There are others too I just can't think of their names off hand, maybe do a Google search.
I am done in 7 weeks and am just now starting to talk to employers, maybe I'm just being a slacker, but I want to to be able to give definate dates as to when I could attend orientation and make out a schedule.
Good luck to you.
Thanks Kitty. I'm not sure I'd like Gainesville seeing as I'm not 25 and the party type. Working at Shands teaching hospital is something I know I'd be interested in. I'll be looking to live somewhere in the vicinity that has the charm of the south but maybe without the antics of a college town like Gainesville. Any suggestions?

I know of a place close to Gainesville!! Starke, Florida is maybe a 30 minute drive to Gainesville. It has all of the charm that you could ask for in an old southern town. It is very close to Gainesville, so it has all of the amenities of Gainesville, yet without the college/party town atmosphere. All of my Dad's family is in Starke, and frankly, I love it. I think that it would be very feasible to live in Starke and work at Shands. Anyway, if you want anymore information about it, either reply here, or PM me. The Gainesville area is really beautiful, and personally, I think that it would make for a great change from the South Florida atmosphere. JMHO Good luck with your decision, and I hope that you continue to consider the area.
