My husband and I, and our two young boys are wanting to move out of the San Francisco Bay area. We want to get away from the hustle and bustle here and move to a small to medium sized city. I'm an ED nurse and he is a freelance photographer. I would love to hear what it's like to work at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center and live in Wenatchee. How is the demand for ED nurses there? Is the moral good at that hospital? Can a nurse generally afford to buy a starter house there with the wage they pay? We're also considering Longview WA. I'd appreciate feedback on either town.
Thank you.

Hello. I am an RN from the Brewster Washington area, which is about 60 miles north of Wenatchee. I think you would find it to be quite a nice area, with a high demand for nurses, a great medical center, and a great place to raise a family. It is a short 3 hour drive from Seattle, Washington which is the BIG city to those who live there. There is lots of fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities, perfect for a family. I would highly recommend that area.
Thank you so much. I will look into Brewster right now!
Take care.
Brewster is a very small farming community. I used to live there. I now live in Spokane Washington. I would think that Brewster is too small but Wenatchee is a nice small town.....with shopping and quick 3 hours from Seattle.... Goodluck!
Regarding Spokane:
Thanks for you advice. If you have time, can you tell me briefly about Spokane? Can you recommend any good hospitals? Would you recommend Spokane as a safe family oriented city? We're looking to buy a small starter home (we're coming from San Francisco where the cost of housing is outrageous) and not sure how possible that would be on a nursing salary and the cost of living there. Thank you!

Wenatchee is nice.. very in to baseball so get your boys started now! Also I know that Wenatchee Valley Medical is doing a sign on bonus currently for ED nurses.. because alot of them are leaving Central Washington Hospital (it is in Wenatchee)..

I work in the ED in Longview WA if you have specific questions let me know, we have a very friendly and efficient staff that sees approx 60k people a year, our dept is very new construction and when done in Feb we will have 40 beds.
As far as Longview is concerned we mostly have meth as the local drug of choice and hispanic is the dominant minority (small one at that), it is a union mill town that I actually love. Some people of course have nothing nice to say and should really move away but I am from here and am raising my kids here because I love it. The cost of living vs wages are very very good here...my house in San Fran would be over a million bucks!
I also work in Vancouver WA and some at the beach as well doing agency..is nice for some extra money and a change of scenery.
The NW is very rainy but you being from San Fran are familiar with rain...:)
