I have noticed in our LTC, that most often, spouses not only work the same shifts, but the same floors. If I was a DON, I don't know if I'd necessarily do this. We have one couple where I work both CNA's, same shift, same unit. The wife is an excellent CNA...her hubby however, well, let's just say, she covers for him a lot. He likes to sit at the nurses' station and read charts, while call lights are going off and his wife is running up and down the halls helter skelter answering them. They only worked my shift, my wing once and I got onto him all night. His wife came to me towards the end of the shift and asked me why I was being so hard on him. She thought she had to defend him or something.
Now, the shoe is on the other foot. My hubby is a CNA going to nursing school. He works where I work, but on night shift and usually on an opposite wing/unit. We both told the DON when he was hired that we would be more comfortable NOT working together.
Anyone?

My husband and I met at a LTC facility we were working at.:heartbeat Worked well together but we both left around the same time. He went to ICU and I went travel nursing.

Yes. My wife and I work at the same facility, same shift, but on different halls. (not by choice) At the previous facility we worked together many times without a hitch. We support each other 110% all the time at work, college (yes, nursing) and at home. We tend to "push" each other to do our best.
PS. We've been married for 20 years if that makes any difference.

I used to work with a married couple they were aides like I was at the time she was good til he got hired they worked same shift and floor. He was awful one of the laziest aides I have ever had the displeasure of working with. She was 27 hrs older than him but that's another topic all together. Before they left he got so bad and mouthy all of us were ready to choke him then she changed. She started accusing female aides of flirting with him of course she was being fed these lies by him cause trust me not one of us woukdve given him the time of day not even for $200000! Naturally she beleived him. Ughhhh he made me sick! And they called in alllllllllll the time. In their first 90 days they missed 45 or more if she was out with a runny nose he would stay out too. I'll never forget one day she went to her weekly ER visit due to " heel spurs" and je said he needed to go pick up her rx so this was right when supper was coming out. The nurses told Jim ok but he had to come right back wellllllll I said y'all know hrs gonna call and say he can't. Sure enough he tried it I happened to answer the call and I told him she was a grown woman and he best get his ass back to work cause he had an assignment that was waiting on him and that I would NOT come off mine to do his work. To my surprise he was back at work in no time I was livid at that point. I'm so glad they don't work there any more. I could never work with my hubby. That's just too much time together I go to work just to get a. Break from mine
