Oh, nothing creative or descriptive here.....just looking for people to obssess with until I receive word in the mail, assuming I got in the program....

Anyone else biting their nails?

Thanks Rnedit...

My wife is suggestion that i get a decent one, because according to her...I have a hearing problem.

but uh...Shhhhhhh

between you and I......I don't have a hearing issue.....I just tune her out sometimes....LOLOLOL

Here is the link that someone sent her......and they told her to check out the Littman Classic or Master Classic.......let me know what you think.

I have the Littman Classic, and it works fine. However - I don't know if it works for that strange hearing disorder "tuneroutitis".

Don't go too crazy - you won't need top of the line for school. The classic should be fine - but like I said, many of my classmates are happy with the one Belles sells for around $25.00

Hi, guys and gals! I've registered for the 602 curriculum myself. I applied online for my and joined the NSNA - go figure, the NSNA cost more than the malpractice! I'd be happy to supply any info needed, I don't know if I'm able to PM yet, though...

I'm going to Belle's to order the uniforms after the New Year - I have a date with a fellow nursing student in January. Personally, I'm a steth snob due to working so closely with physicians, so I love the top of the line Littmans.

BTW, huge congrats to you too, Winnie!

Oh my goodness....only ten posts? I guess I better go post some things so I can receive and send PM's, LoL...:chuckle

Can you tell me how much should we expect to pay for first semesters books ?

The bookstore said they are waiting for a shipment that will not come until after Christmas and then they will not be available until after Jan 5th. I have the list of books from the website....and there are at least 10 books to purchase.

check: http://www.bergen.edu/documents/nursing/pdf/TEXTBOOKS%20%20Fall%202008%20Spring%202009.pdf

thanks in advance !

We had a different book for Fundamentals but for the Fundamentals and study guide, calculate with confidence, pharmacology, fundamentals success, labs book, I paid 365. (approx)

Don't remember what I paid for Physicall Assessment. I also don't remember what I paid for a nursing care plan book - but I bought Doenges, and I have never used it - the other books are better, so save your money and buy something else to start. I guess you are looking at areound $500 total.

Don't buy from the bookstore - they are too expensive. If you have a BN membership - they are reasonable. If not - try BN, textbookx.com, cheaptextbooks.com and other websites. Always go by ISBN, not title.

Someplaces - you did not get the CD's with the book (which can be very helpful). AT BN, I did always get the CD. I also always get the study guide with the book, they are usually very helpful - especially for GI/GU (level 2) but not so much for maternity (level 3)

hey did you buy all your books yet???

Yup! I sent you a PM, Winnie....

See you in 602! :D

Guess what.......me too....hehehehe

Heyy DaddyO I know from previous posts you were waiting to hear from BCC - it's so great that you got in!!! How was the test in your opinion any key points I should know about to prepare myself come Oct. 09 :) I know someone had said if you know basic algebra you should be fine.. I am taking a coorifice this semester in Algebra B so Hopefully that will help as well. How difficult was the English Section (and was there any Science?)

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I just saw this post. The books can wind up being as expensive as the course itself (thus why I am never selling any of them). I wouldn't advise anyone to sell their books either. I remember some people after getting done with level 1, sold their books back only to realize that they needed some of them later in the program (duh!). Some of the optional books are not worth the money and others are. The campus book store was always to slow for me. I always went directly through Elsevier for my books (that is who they get them from). Just search around for the best price. The bookstore NEVER gets things in on time and if your anal (like most nursing students and nurses are :)) you will want to have your texts before classes start.

You all have started using a different text than the one I had in level 1 but if it comes with an optional study guide....buy it. It is always helpful.

Eddie, I will let you know when we meet up what books are good and which ones are not. Will also fill you in on the right study guides (some of the Professors have preferences and others that teach different levels take their lectures WORD FOR WORD from particular study guides- helpful study hint wouldn't you say?).

BTW Eddie, if and when we do meet up, alot of the info and material that I let you in on is going to become your responsibility to share with your classmates as you see fit. I just dont have the time to deal with each person individually.

We will talk later about it but alot of the videos and programs that you are required to watch, I already have them on DVD and depending upon whether you provide me with blank DVD's, I can provide you with the videos so that you can watch them at home rather than on campus (They cannot be signed out and must be watched in the library. Dont ask how I got them :wink2:). I also have a few of the NCLEX review courses (including the ones on the computers in the nursing computer lab) on DVD as well.

I am more than willing to help but it is on you to want it. Just keep me informed as to when we can meet up.

The Math part was easier than the link for the study guide that is provided. Arithmetic and Algebra...and nothing to deep with the Algebra. I reviewed the math using this:

http://www.amazon.com/Math-Review-Standardized-Tests-Cliffs/dp/0822020335/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231992337&sr=8-1

I also applied to Rockland County Community College. They give the same exam. I took the Math portion up there.....so if you want to practice........try to enroll there....and take the test.....just for practice and to give you an idea on what to expect. I think I paid $30 for the application.

with respect to the English, Sentence Completion and Essay.......I posted the Accuplacer Study guide in the Student Forum. Run thru that........and with the Essay.....just practice writing in a timed environment.

You can search my ID for the Accuplacer...or I will post it tomorrow. Good Luck ! !
