I just passed my first semester! I'm so relieved. However, as much as I would like to lay back and enjoy the victory, we just started summer school literally 5 days after my last final exam. My fundamentals final was last Thursday and we started summer school yesterday, then clinicals start back next Thursday. I'm ticked we couldn't at least get a full week to recover...I spent the entire little "break" doing laundry, cleaning my apartment and car and had to work. All I feel like doing is sleeping and laying on my couch watching bad tv. Oh well...this is what I signed up for right? I just have to suck it up and hopefully not lose any momentum. I was wondering if anybody else had to go to summer school this year and what kind of break everyone is getting. We do get about 3 weeks between summer and fall...which still isn't that impressive but hey it's something right? :) Hope everybody did well this past semester and for those of you right there with me for the summer good luck and hang in there! It'll all be worth it.

The spring semester ended May 11th and, I am currently taking the PN summer session, which began May 16th. This class ends June 21st, which is the day of our final. After this, I'll be eligable to take the NCLEX-PN examination. No matter the outcome, pass or fail, of this class I'll start my RN year next August. We aren't required to take this summer session so if even if we fail, we can continue onward.
This semester started out rough. On our first clinical day we were assigned each 10 patients. The most we had each was three. So it was quite overwhelming and was a disaster. Our instructor cut down the load to five each and things has been a lot better. We weren't ready for that quanity. I know in the real world we'll have to take care of that many and more. Today I feel more confident that I could handle 10 if the were assigned to me but I don't think she'll do that since we only have one more day at the nursing home and then I'll be at the hospital for the rest of our clinical days of this summer session.
:rotfl: Good luck to all who are taking summer classes!

Doesn't it feel great!!! I am so...HAPPY that I got through with my first clinical semester. Three more semesters to go. This semester was very frustrating for me, but all the hard work paid off. This summer I'll be taking Microbiology, which starts next week. This is one less class in the Fall. I'll have much more focus on my OB/PSYCH rotation.
Good Luck
I started summer semester 2 days after I passed second semester of nursing. I originally was an education major and changed to nursing. I've been in summer classes since I started and I'm tired of it. I won't take classes next summer. I promised my husband! I'm in Micro now and had to sign up for 2 more to get my loan. I only wanted the extra 2 for my loan to be approved and now I won't get it until a week before Fall semester starts! Ugh. So I'm in for a long summer. My Micro class is far from interesting. Every 5 minutes the same 2 people ask questions that are irrelevant to class and he takes it upoon himself to go in depth to answer them. Every week we're behind because of these students. So I study myself and hope he tests on material I covered in my book.
Have a great summer everybody!

I'm going to school this summer. Summer quarter begins on June 20th, a week after Spring term ends. One of my classes is 4 weeks long (M-Th from 2-4:30) and the other class is 6 weeks (M-Th 5-6:15) with a lab from 6:30-10:15 two nights a week. The lab portion ends after 5 weeks. I'll be busy!
Fall term begins mid-to-late September.
