I just stumbled on this show while channel surfing. It had several segments to it and I just happened upon the one about nurses. It featured pediatric ICU nurses. It came closer to hitting the nitty gritty of nursing than anything I have seen so far. The emotional stress of dealing with deathly ill children was written on the face of every nurse. The unit they featured had two deaths that day alone. God bless them all, families and children and nurses one and all. I recieved no advance notice of this show what so ever or I would have clued you all in to it.

Yeah I saw that show. I thought it was well done. I have to admit it brought tears to my eyes. I also enjoy watching Discovery Health. All their shows are great, but I really like Nurses and Paramedics. I also enjoy The Residents and Resident Life (I think on TLC).

I thought I remembered seeing it before. I think it was a repeat of the Johns Hopkins series that ran on the Discovery channel last Fall and focused on a different area of nursing in each episode.

Yes, i happened to be up late again (insomniac) and caught Life and Death on MSNBC and I was quite surprised at the humanistic element they integrated into it, and also the angle of saying doctors aren't gods. It was "nitty gritty" to quote another thread and I highly enjoy it. I am quite thankful for Discovery Health network and all that TLC has done to put the lives of medical health professions into the forefront of American conciousness. We're not some scalpal weilding, shot giving regimented people---I'm glad people are getting a glimpse into the very real and emotional world that medical professionals deal with. Kudos to all of them for their awesome programming......without that, i probably wouldn't watch t.v. (too much studying.....) Okay, that and The Simpsons.
