We're learning bp and I was having a hard time hearing anything, my teacher walked by and said I had my earpiece in the wrong way.

When you're wearing a stethoscope make sure the diaphragm is turned on and facing your belly.

The ear pieces need to take forward always. You'll get the hang of it. Make sure they are the right size too. I ordered special small littman ones (they don't come with the scope), and it made a big difference.
Yeah it took me a few days to get it, but now i've gotten the hang of it. The other hard one is respiration, I have a hard time seeing someone's breathing unless they are wearing a tight or more fitted shirt. I can't see it at all if I look at the front, I have to look at someone from the side. On that one at the certification test you can only be within two breaths of what the test instructor gets.

Sometimes I have to lay my hand on the pt to feel the rise and fall with resps.
I don't know if you can do that during the test, though.
