I"m so happy to find this site!
I've been on the waiting list for nursing school since Feb of 2004. I expect my # will finally come up in 9/06 at the current rate. Every semester there are 30-50 spots open and they've gone through about 100 names on the list to fill those spots. Between my prereqs, and the constant changing of those prereq requirements, I feel like I've been working on this forever! Well, I have I guess. So long that I have to retake the miserable A&P class because it's been over 10 years since I took it last.
The waiting list has been hard. I'm 31 and trying to plan my family around when I *might* start school. Not easy, since I have infertility problems & recurring miscarraiges. I feel like I'm losing my mind right now becuase next month is the very last cycle we can get pg before I be pregnant when I start school. I'm such a mess!
I'm wondering if anyone else is or has gone through the same thing, or is just waiting indefinately for that magic # to come up? I keep wondering how other people live their life around this wait. So much can happen in life in the space of 2+ years!

i know what you mean. i was applying to two schools each semester, but then one of them changed the requirements, and i didn't have a high enough gpa to even apply. and i couldn't go back and take any of the classes again to get a higher grade because they won't let you do that unless you received a d or an f! so i had to just give up that school completely! :angryfire dang frustrating. luckily for me, the other school still had a waiting list. i've been told recently by counselors/staff that i should be in next sem. at the very least, i will be an alternate (they're the lucky ones because they can opt to stay or go without consequence). when i begin i will have been on the wait list for three years!!!
i feel bad for you younger folk though who could've finished a ba, bs or other program! i've been home with my kids taking extra classes while i wait in no big hurry since i already have a ba from a hundred years ago. :) good luck all! heather
