I am all done with the application process... 4.0 and an 88 on the HESI, all classes taken at BRCC.. now.. the WAITING process ... AHHH!! The worst part!

Anyone else out there waiting with me?? Im a nervous wreck so some company would be nice.. haha

Oh okay I'll have to check into that, Thanks!

Hi! I got the hesi review book from the bookstore at Brcc. It's the closest thing to the hesi that you'll find. I was so nervous for the hesi. I heard so many different things from so many people that I didn't know if I should be nervous or if it was going to be really easy. And I can honesty say it pretty much average. Definitely review the hesi book because the stuff on the test is from high school. Some people could go into it and not review at all and did great some tried that and they were absolutely devastated and left out crying. So it's better to be safe than sorry. If you review the book material and go online and do the free stuff just to make sure you have a good underhanding of everything, then you will do fine on the test. The loosest that got in for my group was a 3.5 and 87ish. But it's different for every group. I've heard the scores are higher now, so try to do your best. Your GPA weighs the heaviest, then the hesi and then they give extra points for classes that you've taken at BRCC.

Yes, It is competitive but... they really want you to take your pre-reqs at BRCC and to test well on the HESI. I have read a few other threads from years past, and it seems like they have taken 3.0 GPA's before. I also think it depends on the applicants they receive. I am nervous about it though.

they definitely do not take 3.0's anymore. I had a friend that applied with me and she had a 3.4 and a 92 on the hesi and didn't get in. The GPA weighs the heaviest. Then hesi. Then they give extra points for taking classss at Brcc. I had a 4.0 and everyone of my friends had a hesi score in the 90's, mine was 88. I was terrified and went and talked to the dean. And she told me your GPA is the main thing. No one that got in for my group had below a 3.5.

I called and asked them if they prefer applicants who have taken their pre reqs at BRCC because so many people have told me that, but they said it doesn't matter... I haven't taken any there, so I should probably start exploring other options!

It's really going to depend on your GPA and hesi score. They do give extra points for taking classes at Brcc. But it your hesi and GPA is high, you have a great chance of getting in. There are tons of people that have gotten in with out taking all their classes at Brcc.

Hi! I am applying to BRCC, and I take the hesi next week!!! I am so nervous, and I don't know what to expect. Can you give me a general idea of what the test was like, and what book you used to study? Thanks in advance!

Make sure you can work ratio and proportion problems quickly. I almost ran out of time. But I'm a slow test taker. There are tons of converting between units of the metric system and know basic household conversions. Practice word problems too. They give you a calculator on your computer, so the math isn't too difficult. English, make sure you know basic English stuff. Like parts of a sentence. Ugh. The spelling got me. And picking out which sentence is written correctly. know correct forms of words in the past present and future. And plural and singular forms of words that go with the rest of the sentence. The vocabulary part was rough. Make sure to google vocabulary words for hesi and know the ones out of the book.

Goodluck

Thank you so much! How was the biology section? Is it A&P or just regular biology? I'm really worried about the math part, I'll have to look up some YouTube videos.

Hey thanks for all the information. I do have a C in Algebra and was going to re-take it but was told by the nursing instructors that I should be fine as long as I test well on the Hesi and have A's in everything else.

Hey! Did you talk to your friend? Do you know if biology or a&p is on the test?

I am SOOOO sorry that I never got back to you... I could not find this thread for the life of me. I know you already took your HESI at this point and I hope you did awesome!!!

Hey I just took mine. It was tough for me but I managed to make a 86.7

honestly I thought I failed it. And I'm applying with All As and 1 B in math 110. I believe that's a 3.8 or 3.9

Hey!! Yeah I think that's a 3.8. I applied and I have a 3.6.. I take the HESI on Thursday. 86.7 is a good score; what's even better is that you got that score and thought you failed lol. Good luck!!!

You definitely got this! I think I messed up because I did the math and reading last. But I'm thankful I passed!

You have a great GPA!

I hope we both get in! This whole waiting process is long lol
