Anyone else Applied to Niagara College rpn?

Published

Hi guys!

I just applied to Niagara College for RPN the regular 2 year course and the modified 3 year course.

I was wondering if anyone else has applied or has any positive feedback on Niagara College?

A lilttle about myself:

-I'm 23 years old now considered a "Mature Student

-I had honours in Highschool and graduated with scholarships to Ryerson University where I studied 3 years of my 4 year BA in Criminal Justice.

-I previously applied for nursing last year but it was very competitive and I felt like my science manditory course grades were not high enough, so while working full-time I went back to night school to upgrade my Math & Chemistry and now I am pretty confident that I have a high enough average to be considered.

I'm finding it very difficult to get in as a mature student, I don't remember it being this difficult fresh out of highschool. I'm hoping that now I've upgraded I am ready and will be accepted :)

I applied to the Jan 2014 RPN course at Niagara and the regular 2014 start for Jan & May.

I also applied to Sheridan for the Jan 2014 and Geroge Brown College 2014 start for RPN.

I heard the acceptances are sent out late September, So until then I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyone else apply to these schools? I'm hoping to get into Niagara- the modified program so I can work pretty much full-time and do night courses. It will be a lot of work but soo worth it!

I applied and got accepted for the 2 year full time RPN program at niagara college for January 2014.

I am also considered a mature student, like you. I previously took dental hygiene at niagara college but due to lack of jobs and there being no job security with being a hygienist I have decided to go back to school. I got accepted into the program early October but I did really well on the HOAE. I hope this helps a little bit

I am considered a mature student, but wasn't accepted into the RPN program at George Brown. I only had the required grade 11 sciences, but my marks were high (94 in bio, 96 in chem). My grade 12 marks were low, and I spent two years at Laurier and Ryerson and my marks were not the greatest, so I think this is what ultimately hurt me. But, I changed my plans around a bit and am going to Fanshawe in the winter for Pre-Health! So I'm really excited about this! And from there hopefully will be able to get into my RN!

Hey,

I applied for the January 2014, 2 year program and was accepted, I am 31. Congrats to everyone who got their acceptance. I cannot wait till January!!!

Hey Eliz!

Sorry I haven't been on this site for a very long time. I have accepted my Full-time Offer for Niagara Jan 2014 start :) I am sooo excited to start!

I heard that about dental hygiene, soo many people apply...competitive to get into and even hard to find a job after graduation.

Congrats on getting in! We'll be in class together !

I actually found out Sept 18th, I just haven't been on the site lately because I have been soo busy packing and getting everything else settled for school.

Congratulations TeresaDane!! Looks like we will be in class together too! I am super excited as well.

So out of 354 applicants to the January 2014 Nursing... only 60 seats were offered and we have 3 of them! So go us!! :) wahoo

Klovesedamame,

Congratulations!!! One step closer to achieving your dreams!! It's been harder for us all but we did it :)

That's exciting! I'm sure you can try transferring into the nursing program once you're enrolled into pre-health . I heard it is easier once you have paid tuition and have your foot in the door to that school.. apply half way through first term and see if they will do a transfer?

why not! Good luck :)

Congratulations to those who got accepted at Niagara college. I knew the feeling when I got my acceptance letter a year ago and now i'm in my 3rd sem planning to transfer to other school where is not as crazy as Niagara college .. u will know what im talking about once ur in your 2nd sem, remember the words "Oscee" that will be your new best enemy. I regret I refused Mohawk and chose Niagara instead.. I just found out Mohawk don't have oscee but its too late already, mohawk don't take all the rpn credit from Niagara college if u wanna transfer. I don't wanna scare you guys, I'm just sharing what my experience so incase you have offer from both colleges..u can make a good choice! Good luck!

Mohawk does have the OSCE ... I do mine in a couple weeks

I may sound clueless here but what is the Oscee exam?

To all those who will be attending Niagara college in 2014 Jan start congrats!!! I can't wait to be a part of a group that will be taking the journey to becoming a nurse in 2 short years. Anyone on here that will be in my class , I would love to get the excitement going!!!
