Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

Hello,

I'm considering a HEDIS job with Outcomes Inc for the spring 2006. I live in Seattle and have 2 toddlers that I will need to find care for while I do this. Outcomes said they pay $4/chart and expect an average of 6-8 charts done per hour. Apparently all that needs to be done is finding lab results and copying them. Not really anything that requires much skill! I was hoping it would be interesting but it sounds pretty boring.

Can anyone tell me how many charts they typically do in an hour for this type of work? They only pay mileage after 40miles.

Any idea if the work is steady and reliable? Don't want to pay for daycare and then end up not working.

Know of any other companies that are hiring in Seattle area?

Okay, here's what to expect with Outcomes. If you are experienced with several different fields of nursing (for quick document recognition) and have decent computer skills when it comes to Adobe and windows, then you can expect to do anywhere from about 6-10 charts an hour, depending on how well they are organized and how big (ex:tabs vs notebook paper, peds pt versus 90 year old). They will offer you a per chart rate, but depending on how bad they need a reviewer in the area, they may offer an hourly wage if you push for it. You will not qualify for bonus if you are hourly. Honestly, you will be shorting yourself if you try to get it as I have noticed this myself. Uploading charts usually takes anywhere from 10-30 minutes at night. Milage is reimbursed. I don't know how it goes for everyone, but I would not try to find daycare for this work as there is no guarantee for charts in the area. Sometimes you will only have 10 charts for the entire day...factor in some unavailables...I actually had 4 charts and showed up and then only had 1 chart for the whole day. If you don't need to pay for childcare, it's good for supplemental income. The job is extremely easy and you can make a decent amount per hour if there are a lot of charts at the site. You will definitely need to identify more than labs for scanning (labs, specific tests, consults, notes, H+P, D/C summaries,etc to name a few common ones) Depending on who QA's your charts, you may be spending some time reviewing the chart again on your computer and explaining to QA where they goofed up (as this plays a huge part in your bonus). There may also be a significant amount of time between sites, and if you finish early with the first one (as I have done almost every time), then you will be looking for something to kill that time if the next site won't let you in early. I have been sent into the ghetto for most of my work so be sure to be aware of your surrounding and take your GPS off the windshield if you want it to be there when you get finished. The job has it's pros and cons. It was good for me to make a decent amount of money in a short amount of time with no long-term commitment. I have an infant at home and I want to be able to spend as much time with her as possible until she's older and in school. Hope this helps!

Hello, all I am a LPN who live in NYC. Do anyone know if they hire LPN's to do chart reviews? I am very experienced in chart reviews. I've worked 8 years in Clinical Research doing data collection chart abstractions and chart reviews. I am a Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRC) for over 10 years. I am certified by ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals). I love data collection and chart reviews. If anyone have information please forward it to me. Also, I am willing to go to any QARR/HEDIS Training sessions. I hear someone talking about a CD and a online test? Where can I get more information. I thank you all in advance

Google MedAssurant or Outcomes Health Information Solutions. Their hiring criteria is lax compared to the criteria for utilization review/case management. As long as you have clinical experience and the desire, chances are you'll get it. The downside is they do not guarantee hours, so make sure you have another part time job that can support just in case you don't get hours from reviewing charts.

The projects are seasonal. HEDIS is from March to May, so in June and July, there may not be any work. Risk adjustment is in fall. One company pay by the hour. The other pay by the number of charts that you finish. Make sure you know the details of the employment. Many people have been happy with the duties, but disappointed with the hours, pay, and other issues.

I have been working for Outcomes for two weeks and I have had to copy and scan paper charts as well as hybrid charts. For example they want ALL progress notes for OB charts, and ALL progress notes for immunization charts from 1998-2011. That is hundreds of pages to copy, then scan then download not to mention save all in one document so it can be uploaded. All for the low low price of 4.50 a chart. The scanner jams u a lot too. Is their anyone else dealing with this? It is not worth it!
