I am also looking for current students, or anyone that has graduated from the WGU prelicensure program in TX, preferably Houston.
Hi EMarieTX,
Seems a little hard to find other WGU Pre-licensure alums, specially in TX. I was able reach an alum, but were from CA, lots of WGU students there.
I think the Texas pre-licensure students may be hard to come by because its so new here. I believe they have only had one graduation in Dallas so far. It woukd be intresting to trade notes on what our advisors say
Hi EMarie,
Are you in Houston or Dallas area? Yeah still don't have enough posts to IM, boohoo for me. Are you done with all your Pre-reqs?
I dont have enough posts to IM either :)
I have completed all pre-reqs except Biochem and Nutrition (they said I could take those while in the program). I was actually accepted into TAMU-CC's eLine program but started looking into WGU after talking to some current eline students. They are having trouble setting up clinicals in the Houston area it seems. If clinicals cant be set up near me I would have to drive to Corpus Christi for them. With kids and a job that is not a very easy thing to arrange !
I have to choose between the two soon since classes start at TAMU-CC on the 22nd.

Hi Silverlove,
I've asked this on another thread...but hoping you might know:
Do they require completion of all prerequisites in Houston? What is the maximum amount of courses you could take with core nursing classes?
Thanks
as far as i know all pre-reqs are required to start any of the pre-licensure programs. the pre-req info is directly from the wgu site:
nursing science requirements
for transferring students, all sciences (including nutrition) must have been completed within the past five years to be considered for transfer credit.
potential nursing students must have a minimum of a 2.5 gpa in the science prerequisites (a&p, microbiology and biochemistry) in order to be considered for admission to the nursing program.
in regards to your second question, i am not certain on the answer. i know that there are several core nursing classes and they each have different time that is given to complete them bellow is an example of the time frame from wgu.
[color=#4f5151][color=#4f5151]
1. introduction to nursing arts and science (act1) – 8 weeks
2. introduction to nursing clinical skills (aba1) – 17 hours
3. nutrition (asv1) – 6 weeks (if not transferred)
4. organizational systems: safety and regulations (gzti) - 1 week [color=#4f5151][color=#4f5151]5. 3-2-1 calc (auv1) – 6 weeks
6. pharmacology (aac1) – 6 weeks
7. professional roles and values (nvt2) – 6 weeks
hope that helps...

I have also been searching like crazy for Alumni or accepted students into the Pre-licensure BSN student for Houston cohort. I have been unsuccessful in finding any. I am thinking Houston have yet to have a graduating cohort only the one cohort out of Dallas and that was only 3 graduates according to the video on WGU-Texas. I have been accepted for the Houston cohort to start September 1, 2012 but still have my doubts.
Have any of you been accepted to this cohort of know someone that has?

Hi @Ymoore1, I was interested in the Dallas cohort for Nov1 start date. I was told that Houston cohort is very competitive and that they have two start dates: Sept 1 and Nov 1. Do you have CNA training? Or previous hospital experience? Just wondering.
