Hello everyone! I was wondering if there are any LPNs that work at MUSC, Trident, or any of the other facilities in the Charleston area that could give me any info about any of these facilities. I am seriously thinking about moving to this area and would like some insight. I am moving to SC next month and Charleston is at the top of the list. As I stated, any information about ANY of the facilities would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't matter if it's a hospital, nursing home, LTC, ALF, SNF, VA hospital, etc. Thanks in advance!

they announced on the news at the beginning of the weekend that musc employees were going to be taking a 2 day furlough without pay. as for lpn's, trident/summerville system hires lpns-i worked with one last semester(i'm still in school) and she was a great teacher. my sil worked at trident and enjoyed it for 20 + years until my brother had to move for a three year commitment to pay off his med-school loans. east cooper is a nice facility as a patient, as is st. francis. the tri-county area is large with many facilities for long term care, rehabilitation, subacute care, depending on where you want to work. it also depends on where you live.
Thank you scmedasst. The two day w/o pay is not bad when you look at still having a job. I could live with that. Where is East Cooper located? I am looking for a facility with a nice working environment and pays decent. I really appreciate the info. I don't mind the travel because I have traveled an hour and 10 minutes to get to work in the past. If you can think of anything else I would appreciate any info. You can also pm me if you like. Thanks!
east cooper is in mt. pleasant, st. francis is in west ashley, trident is in north charleston, and summerville(part of trident) is in summerville. and there is the va, and roper in downtown. there's also a rehab hospital in north charleston, that the name escapes me right now i've heard is decent. i've heard good and bad about everywhere, but that's to be expected.
i prefer the hospital's that are not in downtown. $15 + a day for parking in a garage if you want to be close, though some hospital's include that in their hiring packages.
cursedandblessed thanks for the info. Wow! that's a lot of money to pay for parking for one day. I have worked at hospitals where you had to pay for parking, but it was free for employees. It is absolutely true about every facility having it's pros and cons. Working in the medical field for the past 12 years, I have learned every place has it's issues. Again thank you for the information and if you can think of anything else, I'd appreciate it. I would appreciate it from anyone else who is reading this as well. Thanks!

you dont pay 15 bucks to park if you work at musc...you park in haygood and take a bus over. for free.
