Hello everyone. I'm a portuguese student and i have 17 years. When I finished high school, I want to study nursing in the United States of America. Someone can help me to clarify my doubts? How can I do to study nursing there? the course is very expensive? What are the job prospects there? There are possibility that I apply for a scholarship? How much money is needed per month there, including studies, food, house rent etc? What is the average salary of a nurse there? I have no preference for any state, and especially like pre-hospital emergency care, emergency department and intensive care. I thank everyone who help me. Thanks

If you just want to study in the US, the wage doesn't really matter. Yes, it's expensive to study as an international student as you will pay "out of state" tuition rates and you cannot work very much. Generally you need to show that you have the money available before you can get the student visa.
Studying in the US gives you no guarantee that you will be able to stay and work there.. there are no visas available.

The process is for you to find a college you are interested in. Check out their admission page, the requirements for admissions.
Usually there is a GPA requirement and you have take a college admission test (ACT or SAT). There maybe additional requirements for foreign students. If you score high in the admissions test , you could be offered a scholastic scholarship.
College costs tuition and room and board, average around $36,000 a year.

You will not be eligible for student loans. My kids did a semester aboard, usually this means you pay your local college your usual amount and they negotiate a place in a foreign country, it is a great way to be exposed to other countries.

Don't be discouraged. I had 3 international students in the program I graduated from. If you are seeking a BSN cost of living will run about what the previous post stated. However, you can always go to a community college to get an ADN and the cost will be significantly less. You may want to check for organizations in Huntsville, Alabama for international nursing student sponsorship.
As far as wages go a new nurse can start out anywhere between 40K-55K, depending on what part of the country they are in.
Good Luck!

That may be the case however with retrogression they will more than likely have problems finding a sponsor willing to wait several years for a visa and unless they maintain student status will have to leave and work elsewhere whilst waiting. Also not many countries accept ADN, there are some but a lot require BSN or minimum 3 years training like the UK
