Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?

Published

Just wondering if anyone has taken this 12month program? Seems like a decent alternative to Mt. St. Mary's and CSUN as this is right here in Orange County.

Commetns appreciated.

I know what you mean about the competitiveness of these programs. I myself have applied to 3 accelerated BSN programs, 3 Entry level MSN programs, and 5 ADN programs. So needless to say... I really want to be a nurse and I'm trying every avenue I can think of to get there. CUI is my first choice though. Anyways, you asked for stats so I don't mind sharing. My BA GPA is 3.4, my pre-req science GPA is 3.5, and I have 1 course in progress. I have approx 300 hours volunteering in 2 hospitals. Hope that helps!

Thanks Psych to Nurse, I definitely can relate to you. I have been in the same boat applying to various programs. And no progress which makes it more frustrating since I want to be a nurse and I want to start my career as soon as I can. CUI is my first choice as well. But still no word from them yet :crying2: Tomorrow is the last day of them sending out invites so I will be doing lots of praying until then. Good luck to you on your interviews!

Good luck to you too Margeritajones! I hope today is the day for you!

No, interview invite :( Was this everyone's first time applying? Does anyone know if chances get better if we re-apply? Also can you guys let me know how your interviews went? Thanks and good luck!!

No interview invite for me as well. It was my first time applying and I'm pretty sure it was because of the fact I had 2 classes in progress. I'm sure my application will look better once I've completed everything but I thought it was worth a shot you know? I will definitely reapply in June because Concordia is my #1 choice.

Definitely post about interviews! I'd be interested to hear what they're like

It was also my first time applying. I am repeating Chemistry due to the recency policy and I hope that doesn't hurt my chances as it is considered IP at this moment. If I don't get in this time, I will be reapplying in June. Concordia is my first choice as well. As the interview date gets closer, I am getting more and more nervous...but excited too!!

Good Luck to everyone!

Margeritajones,

I can't remember if I asked you this before but did you have any courses in progress?

I know, I'm nervous too! I just want the interviews to be over already and to find out if we are accepeted or not.

What was your previous BA/BS in?

Me too! I wish it was mid-April already. I have my BA in psychology from UC Irvine. What about u? Are u doing anything to prepare for the interview?

I was a psych major too! I think there is someone else on this board with a degree in psychology as well. Looks like there are several of us out there.

For the interview... I'm just getting my suit dry cleaned lol, reviewing my personal statement, and spending a little time thinking back on my volunteer work so that I have experiences to draw off of for examples. What about you??

I think I am the other psych degree on here! The nerves are kicking in for sure! Good luck to us all :)

Wow, a lot of psych majors! I'm getting my suit dry cleaned too, lol. I'm also going to review my personal statement. I'm pretty nervous because I don't have much volunteer experience, but I have worked with the public a lot. So, I need to draw examples and experiences from that.

Yes, good luck to us all!

And, please let us know how ur interviews go!

I don't know if you guys have done this already, but there are a lot of threads on here about nursing school interviews. They have some helpful hints and examples of questions to help you prepare. I'm finding them very helpful in anticipating some of the questions!
