Anyone attending Olympic College for Nursing?

U.S.A. Washington

Just wondering if anyone out here is attending OC for nursing? I'm attending right now for my pre-reqs and would just like to know if anyone is working on their degree here? Any input or advice is appreciated!

Anyone starting prereqs Fall 2011? I'm starting slow and easy with Math 99 :)

So I'm in Chem 121 right now. Have a few questions. Do I really need that 4.0 gpa? Do I need the 13 out of 13 points for applying the first time and what would be my chances of getting in...or do you have to have the rollover point. I guess my question is, what should I expect when applying the first time? Should I just assume I won't get accepted the first time? Just how competitive is it to get accepted?

To the nursing students or recent graduates of Olympic college, can you point out any positive or negative if any to the nursing program in this school? I am currently in a nursing program at a different school and I am thinking of quitting and applying for Olympic College. My aunt graduated from Olympic college and she says it is great but that was a long long time ago. I want to know if they are organized in their teaching. The reason I am asking this is because my current school right now is not organized at all. During my first quarter as a nursing student, we felt we were ready for the program but the teachers were not. We didn't get our syllabus ahead of time, they changed our teacher in the middle of the quarter, no proper coordination with different teachers, then just a lot of irregularities, and we only have one teacher for all our classes during the first quarter. I know being in the nursing school is very tough, but when I see sub par teaching and effort from the teacher/school leaving us scrambling for information and they don't even reply to our emails on time, it is very disheartening. I want to concentrate on my studies and not on if they know what they are doing. They also changed everything in the syllabus during summer but failed to make the corrections in the syllabus they gave us. so while we are studying unit 1, we didn't know they were going to teach us first of what's in Unit 2. I know we have to be flexible but we felt like we were guinea pigs. The nursing board visited the school and the teachers wanted us to show a front that we were actually okay. The truth to the matter, we weren't. We told the nursing board what was happening, and the nursing department got a probational rating. It is just disappointing. I am now a second quarter nursing student and I am thinking of quitting because all the students are not pleased. My classmates said that they would just go through with it coz its hard to get into the nursing program, they have to make it work because they need to work and make money, that they have kids to take care of and can't afford to change school. Plus, we sort of lost a bit of respect for our teachers when their exam papers aren't proof read, tons of mistakes and sometimes can't be understood because of wrong spelling or wrong words. It is so unprofessional. I also hate it that they discuss stuff in class and then give us exams on stuff they didn't discuss. She is not testing us on what we have learned from her, she is testing us on what we didn't learn from her. It kinda makes the teacher process futile. When we asked her where she got all these info, she just said it's in the book. if it's all in the book, then why the hell are we still going in class to listen to her when everything is just in the book. This is what I want to know, are the teachers at Olympic college good teachers and are really professionals when it comes to being on top of the task? I am really quitting with the school I have right now. It's hard when you lack confidence in your teacher, you tend to lose confidence in your knowledge as well. I don't want to lose confidence especially when it is NCLEX time. I want to have that confidence if in case I get accepted at Olympic College. Currently I have 14 points because of the rollover. I hope somebody can give me an insight because I am actually afraid of the higher passing grade requirement at Olympic college of 2.7. I hope somebody can give me some input. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
