Anyone attend LPN program Erie 1 BOCES in Buffalo,NY area?

Hi, I was thinking of attending the LPN program at Erie 1 BOCES in the Buffalo,NY area. I was wondering if anyone has or knows someone who went there? I would like to ask you some questions :) I still have to take the entrance exam etc. I Went to Trocaire before and also got accepted into their LPN program but I heard bad things about the program. I know from experience how they are because I had problems with Trocaire before, I graduated from there last December. Can you tell me how the program is at BOCES good? hard? etc. Wish I would have looked into this sooner (instead of Trocaire), I mean I sort of did but was focusing on Trocaire more. If I can get things figured out with transportation and work I hope I can start April days but one person said it was full, the other day said you might be able to get in, and yesterday someone said waiting list. Do you know how many spots there are and how they decide who to accept off waiting list? Thanks!

For Erie one Boces? To be honest I remember there being alot of charts even in the English/critical thinking part. It is not what you would expect or can really study for. I didnt do that great in the math but since I did really well in the other part I got in. Just practice basic math. Also converting decimals to fractions and vice versa.

I have been strongly considering ERIE1 BOCES for LPN. I would like to know if the author of the original post did complete the LPN program and where in the author's career is at now. Thanks.

What happened? Hope your a lpn or rn

What degree did you get from Trocaire? There LPN program is one of the best in the state. Its longer, more in depth, and more difficult then Erie 1 Boces and employers know that.

I just noticed this post after looking up Boces. I find it amusing that people post anecdotal stuff like this . The truth is employers don't really care all that much where your LPN comes from. What is more important is how you present yourself via resume and interview.

Also, if you lookup pass rates for the last published period for NCLEX - PN, you can see that Trocaire has a very unimpressive pass rate averaging just 49% for the period from 2013-2017. The lowly Erie1 Boces has a well over 80% pass rate for the same period. This is probably in part why Trocaire has been under scrutiny from the nursing accreditation board

Thank you for the update. Last I started Orleans-Niagara BOCES for LPN. It was supposed to start in January 2019. It didn't start until the end of March 2019. The first instructor went out on disability two weeks into the program. They could not get their SMART board to work for weeks. The substitute instructor stayed until the end of May. She only gave two to three quizzes a day! Another instructor was fired for hitting a student. The head administrator quit. Classes had to be canceled last minute at times. It happened so often that they had to take away a vacation week. Students had to be on time, not a minute late, however, teachers were exempt from such things.

Before I began ON BOCES, a nurse I worked with told me to go to Erie BOCES because ON BOCES was too unorganized. I thought those problems would have been solved. Bottom line is ON BOCES is a mess. I have heard very good things about Erie 1 BOCES. I am hopeful I can succeed any pass the NYCLEX.
