Published

Anyone applying to Texas Tech's program, specifically the 2nd degree Austin program? What is your work experience? What prereqs have you taken/still need? Volunteering? GPA? Heard anything interesting lately about the program? Let's get to chatting!

Guys!! Congrats to everyone! Y'all are awesome and what an exciting new journey! As far as the Dallas cohort goes, I have my interview on Monday the 11th and I too received the email about the "application still being processed so please be patient, will know by next week".. I'm in no hurry considering I haven't even interviewed yet!

ALIZMA: if you don't mind me asking, when did you receive your email that asked you to come for an interview for the dallas cohort?

@krissred:

In the FB search bar type in "Texas tech health science accelerated" (not case sensitive) and then in drop down menu of search bar scroll to the "find all groups named" . . . you should see the right group then. It took me a few attempts, but that way worked.

Well I received an email accompanying my denial for Austin, which I denied and then a phone call Monday I believe offering for a second time.

@Texnurse96 Thanks! Yes, I was doing a similar search but for some reason it wasn't coming up...even in the "all groups named." I thought I was losing my mind. One hour later :yawn: (seriously a whole hour) and I found it. Better late than never anyway!

ok thanks i was just curious how long they'd been trying to put together this dallas cohort. good luck on your interview keep us posted, and if you hear anything else about the dallas location please let me know ha!

@jennytmuw I'm sorry you didn't get Austin. I remember you were previously accepted to El Paso. I know you preferred Austin but I hope El Paso still works out!!

Thank you! Well it's a maybe because now I'm wanting to go to University of Houston-Sugarland, remember I mentioned that school? Yeeaa More waiting for me! lol :nailbiting:

Best wishes!! :up::)

@Texnurse96 Thanks! Yea it helps when you have Plan B, Plan C..Plan Wildcard lol!! But don't get me wrong it sucks being rejected. Congrats on your acceptance!! Best wishes for you and everyone else!!:nurse:

Good luck to everyone who interviewed for Austin! I'm rooting for y'all!! Let us know how it turns out!! :)

If anyone decides on the El Paso program, let me know! I would love to get to know people from my cohort before actual orientation!

Hi @stacienicole ! I have been accepted to the El Paso cohort but I am waiting on another school's acceptance. I won't know if I'll go to El Paso til December :nailbiting: I'll keep you posted! Maybe start a thread for the El Paso cohort? I'm sure people will pop up!

I'm officially in! Received my acceptance email first thing this a.m. Remember, I was told I would receive it, that some were still being processed, but still, phew!

Yesterday when the rest of you posted in or not, and I hadn't received anything either way, naturally I fretted for a bit ("what does this mean???"). Then I just picked up the phone.

Lesson learned/ re-learned: It's okay to be our own advocates!

I felt a bit sheepish calling, but I didn't want to be waiting for two emails so I chose the phone. The person I spoke with was very kind and understanding--and she gave me the answer I was hoping to hear!

Maybe this little tale will help someone else who runs across this post. It is so easy to forget the simple things that we can do, what is in our own "power" to do. There was no reason whatsoever to just sit on my hands. So I dialed one number and my day did a 180 (and I definitely slept better than had I done nothing!).

Anyway, all best wishes to those who found this thread. Will "see" many of you back on our new FB group. Cheers!

I think they have an idea of how many are going to Dallas based on the Austin interviews and are trying to fill the rest of the spots by offering interviews to a few previously denied for Austin. They are kind of on a time crunch because of how short notice this is, so I think if you got an interview for Dallas, that is a good sign. I think all the interviews are on the same day, Nov.11th.

Austin folks: So sorry about the FB group issues. Not sure what the problem. My advice to those who haven't joined is to copy and paste the title into your search bar. I'll work on it when I'm at home!

@kaseyroo and Austin folks re FB group, this is how I searched for the group after a few misses; FB groups can be a bit wonky that way:

In the FB search bar type in "Texas tech health science accelerated" (not case sensitive) and then in drop down menu of search bar scroll to the "find all groups named" . . . you should see the right group then. It took me a few attempts, but that way worked.
