Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!
I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)
Thanks!
I'm a current ADN student in my first year (second semester) of nursing school at NGCSU. Gainesville campus started out with 40 students, Forsyth about 20 and Dahlonega about 150, making about 180 total. They sent the letters out last year on February 28th.
If you don't get in during the first round, don't lose heart, as I got my acceptance letter at the end of May and my friend got hers at the end of July, as we were both waitlisted.
The NGCSU program isn't easy and isn't for anyone who needs to be spoonfed and have their hand held. But, it's very doable, as we only have to have Monday, Wed and Friday available for school. We have class on Monday, lab on either Wed or Friday and sometimes have to do a school-related activity on the day we aren't in lab but usually have a free day to study or do whatever. It's great for someone like me who's working full-time, has kids and needs to carefully juggle school among everything else!
Good luck! It's definitely worth all the work.
The nursing class for first year students (for us, at least) first semester (Fundamentals of Nursing) was from 9-11, Leadership was from 11-12 (I'm not taking that class). Lab is for 4 hours, either Wed or Fri, either 8-12 or 12-4. Sometimes you have something to do on your non-lab day, such as volunteering (we do 8 hrs a semester) and you have to leave Mon, Wed and Friday open to school as they can always schedule things. A lot of the learning is on your own at home, which works well for me, since I do work full-time, have kids, etc. Clinicals are held on your lab day from 6:45am - 2/3pm and were for about 8 weeks.
Second semester, we take Pharmacology from 9-10, Fundamentals from 10-12, Leadership from 12-1.
My stats were A&P 1 C, A&P 2 and Micro B. I got in the top 93rd%ile on the TEAS, if I remember correctly. I'm sure I was waitlisted due to my not stellar grade in A&P1 and not getting As in A&P 2 and Micro. The school that I took them at (a community college) was on the quarter system when I took all 3 of these classes, so the class and labs counted as 1 grade, so no help in getting the GPA up that way!
Good luck everyone! I know how stressful it is to be waiting for that letter!
Thank you so much kmp5 for that response. I am trying to have my husband set his schedule to work with mine.
So do you feel Mon, Wed, Fri -- we would be completely done on campus or at a clinical site by 4:00 or 5:00?
If so I'm thinking he could at least be able to work those days after 6 pm?
Please let me know, that would be really helpful.

I am a nervous wreck also! End of February can't get here soon enough! I don't know how many students are admitted for Fall 2012? Does anyone know?
