I was just wondering who all has applied to GSCC for Fall 2015 RN Program?
I have taken the TEAS, finished all of my prerequisite classes, and applied. Now the waiting game begins!
I love the program! It's been wonderful. All of the instructors are wonderful & very open if you have problems. If you get your acceptance letter, I would suggest taking Pharmacology in the summer so you don't have to take it in the fall. It's a pain but makes 1st semester so much harder with 3 classes. Make sure you attend class & take lots of notes!! Ask for help if you need it before you start struggling. If you have questions you can email me, text me or look me up on Facebook. I will help however I can. I had a friend in the class before me & without her, I wouldn't have made it this far. It helps to have someone ahead of you to answer your questions! :)
Wow, you are absolutely too kind! Thank you so very much. I have heard the same thing from others about taking Pharmacology in the summer, so that is something I would definitely do if accepted! I did apply to another college here in Georgia, but I won't know if I'm accepted until sometime in June. Just by looking at GSCC's calendar it looks like the deadline for registeration for Pharmacology in the summer is June 30th and classes start July 1...does that sound about right?
I just would like to find out if I got accepted into the other school in Georgia before registering for classes at GSCC (if that makes sense).
I am still completely torn between which college I would choose between though (IF I get into both) because I have heard good things about both colleges =(
I live a hour away from both colleges and they both have good pass rates for the NLCEX. The only difference is that I live in Georgia so I would continue to receive my Zell Miller (A higher form of HOPE) scholarship if I attend a Georgia college. Since Zell is a Georgia funded program, I have been heard I would not continue to receive it if I attend an Alabama college.
I see you live in Georgia too, do you have any advice on this?
I finished working my job so I didn't take it in the summer, I still did well on it & the other two courses, one is only 10 weeks long, but it would have been a lot easier to do it before. When I applied I had missed the deadline for other schools in the area so Gadsden State was my only option. Luckily, I didn't have to stress about it. If you're waiting on the other college, you could not take pharmacology in the summer & see if you get in the school in Georgia. You could send your response back to Gadsden that you accept the position & then if you change your mind you can tell the nursing department. Gadsden State also sends letters to alternates so that would open a spot for someone else. Fall semester won't start until August. What school in Georgia did you apply at? I'm in Dallas so I'm around an hour & a half from Gadsden. Good thing is the time difference, especially in the mornings! There are options so don't feel overwhelmed about waiting for the other school in June!
I also applied to Georgia Northwestern in Lafayette, Ga (Walker County). Both schools are 1 hour away from me in opposite directions; I live in Rome, Ga.
Just out of curiosity, are there any scholarships or grants available for people who live in Georgia, but go to an Alabama college? The Zell Miller is a Georgia academic scholarship I'm receiving for maintaining a 4.0, so it just stinks that I wouldn't be able to use it at GSCC

Yes, mine was also pulled 3 times. April 16, April 29, and lastly May 11th. Have y'all applied to any colleges other than Gadsden State?
I live in Rome, Georgia, so I also applied to Georgia Northwestern. I don't think they send out their letters until the end of June...which is even nerve racking =(
