Anyone applying for Bellevue College nursing 2013-2014 program?!

Hello!

I am applying this February for the Bellevue College RN program for 2013-2014, I just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there that is applying for that time period as well?!

Where else is everyone applying?! Anyone taken the TEAS yet?

I just read through this entire thread and now I'm super hopeful for the future! :) I am just barely starting my pre-reqs at BC in the spring- it'll take me forever. I work during the day as a medical assistant at the UW, so evening and part time is my only choice. I'm going to the healthcare info session next Thursday so that I can ask questions about the part time program.. like the class hours... is class every day of the week? will there be daytime stuff I have to go to? My work's flexible, but I just need to be able to plan ahead to ask for time off if needed. I'm super duper nervous about working full time and going to school, but excited too... It's time to move on from medical assisting! Good luck everyone! Post things about the program once you're in it! :)

oh, and I never even thought about applying to a backup program..... good plan.

So....yeah.

We've got, what, less than a month before ish gets real. I am officially starting to panic. I already feel behind and we haven't even started yet. I find myself staring off into space utterly paralyzed with complete terror that I won't be able to keep up with assignments I haven't even gotten yet. Why am I doing this to myself?! Is anybody else doing this?!?

Somebody, please, share your fears. There's strength in numbers, yo.

I have started all of the reading in the modules that Lisa sent us, and I think my nervousness is better when I am studying. When I am not studying, I see my giant pile of books and freak out a little at the sheer amount I have to learn, but when I am doing the reading and then answering the questions in the books, and actually understanding stuff and getting questions right, I feel like I can actually do it and that it isn't too bad.

I am really anxious to start though. I don't think I have ever had a summer go by this slowly!

Good Luck! Ellinger is an awesome A&P teacher, so if you get a chance to take his class you should go for it. He is really tough, but you learn a ton from him. I also thought Diane Mauldin was a great teacher (she teaches Micro).

Breathe! I just completed year 1 with a teenager and a pre-teen! If you have a concern, ask the faculty - they are there to help you succeed! I am far more confident going into year 2, now that I know the faculty is so invested in our success. As for the nursing diagnosis book, I feel that Ackley is far more helpful than Cox. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tip, hereshoping :) I am feeling better now that my Beloved has landed a really great job (unemployment is miserable) and we've started getting some books in. I actually just got the nursing diagnosis book yesterday, the inside front cover is a little daunting! I've only been able to flip through that one cuz we're in the middle of moving. New job, new home, new school, yee haw! Never a dull moment :) It will be nice to sort out my new office space and get it organized, I feel the need to nest or something LOL

I

I have a book question...

I have the Fundamentals text (rainbow shell on the bottom, blue bar across the top) but it says "Volume 1 Theory, Concepts and Applications" across the bottom and because it says that, I'm afraid there are more volumes that I'm missing. Is there a volume 2 or 3? I am having a difficult time because the ISBN is just giving me results of what looks like just one book, not two or more. Does someone have the whole set that can either post the individual ISBN's of each book or describe it or something to differentiate between volumes? I'd appreciate it so much, thanks :) I can PM my email address to anyone that has information if that's easier than this thread. Thanks!

The set I bought new has Vol. 1 (Blue) Theory, Concepts and App.'s, Vol. 2 (Purple) Thinking, Doing and Caring, and the Skills Videos (set of 3 DVD's).

Unless things have changed from last year, you will need the second volume - it is very helpful for skills lab, as it takes you step-by-step through the skills :nurse:

The package (ISBN: 978-0-8036-2718-5) I bought from the bookstore contains:

-Volume 1 Theory, Concepts, and Applications ISBN: 978-0-8036-2264

-Volume 2 Thinking, Doing, and Caring ISBN: 978-0-8036-2265

-Skills Videos Set of 3 DVD's ISBN: 978-0-8036-2403

Hope that helps!

Thank you!! Y'all are awesome :)

Looking forward to Monday's workshop!! Anybody besides me planning on attending?
