Anyone applying to ABSN at WSSU for Jan 2011

I'm applying to the ABSN program at WSSU this August to start in January 2011. Anyone joining me?

Oh my gosh, we have to wait a few more weeks?!? Orientation is only a month away! If we don't receive the funding then that doesn't give us much time to try to figure out how to pay for this program! And the committee hasn't even met yet?! Gah, the waiting is killing me!

I don't know how to prepare for this. I think we should relax & enjoy our families while we can. We're about to go on a wild ride!

Here's the schedule so far:

NUR 2310 Intro to Prof Nursing I TH, F 8-12 and F 1-4 this class runs 4 wks 1/13-2/14

NUR 2501 Assess for Health Alterations T,W 8-12 and TH 1-5 this class lasts 10 wks1/13 - 3/29

NUR 2302 Pharmacology T,W 1-3:30 also 10 wks long 1/13 - 3/29

NUR 2311 Intro to Prof Nursing II TH, F 8-12 & F 1-4 runs 2/17 - 3/28

NUR 3210 Intro to Prof Nursing III M, TH, F 6-4 & T,W 9-12 runs 3/30 - 4/19

I'm currently taking NUR 2310 - Intro to Prof Nursing I. So I won't be taking that class with you all in Jan. This was my backup plan in case I wasn't admitted to the accelerated program then I could continue in the nursing classes along with the traditional students.

My final exam (30% of my grade) is Dec. 8. Wish me luck!

Oh, I forgot to add this: we don't register for these classes. The school will take care of it.

I'm not sure about the background check. I'm assuming that the hospital has already performed one on us. Remember how we had to complete the online questionnaire?

I called WSSU last week and they informed me that the drug test and the criminal background check was not due until April or May. We are not starting clinicals until May.

Ms. Eaton, the secretary in Mrs. Garrison's office, had told me that she was waiting on something from the background check people and that's why she hadn't sent out those forms yet. But I guess there's no worries if we don't need it until April anyway.

And about funding- I wish they would go ahead and fund everyone, because they are cutting it pretty close. That's a lot of money to have to come up with at the last minute. And since its for the accelerated program, I don't know how financial aid would work with that, if they'd have to put 2 years worth of aid together or what, since it's like 2 years of classes packed into 1. i don't know, but funding for all sounds great to me...lol. It's a recession people!:)

Still haven't heard anything. It may be the end of the month before we hear something with the way things are going.

Did you all receive the email today from WSSU? I'm getting nervous!

Yes, I did. And I counted all the emails they sent it to and there were 51. So it seems like they must have accepted the full 45 and then added an extra 6 people, just like Vanynessa said previously. I wonder why they went over their 45 cap...

@mom2kidzz I'm in Mrs. Darby's 1:00 class, knowing her she probably did mix my papers up with the morning class...lol

The final wasn't bad. I made sure that I was familiar with everything that was on all 3 of the study guides. So that helped some and remembering the old tests and what we discussed in class. But, yeah, I'm glad its over to. Now it's on to the next ones in a few more weeks!
