Hi! I got the call I was accepted in to USC's FNP program. I will be starting Fall 2017. Just wanted to reach out to anyone who is currently in the program or got accepted as well
I actually just started. Its a lot of work but its doable. I have to take the bridge first. If I get 80% of the class, then I can continue with the program.
renzlao how are you liking the program so far?Are you able to start the bridge course simultaneously with first semester courses or does it have to be completed ahead of everything?I'm in the process of applying to the program. Thanks for the info!
First day today and It was a bit a of a learning curve trying to maneuver the computer software. This is not my first master program nor my first online experience but I got to say, USC provided a better experience.
The discussion we do every week is basically just a review of the module for the week. Like any other online courses, you will have to read in advance and prepare your questions during the live session.
USC uses a computer software program that allows us to be log-in simultaneously and do a group discussion like we are in a regular in-person class. We were broken down into different groups for some in-class activity and it worked out very well. I was surprised how advanced the technology is. It felt like we were just in-class discussing concepts, but we were not. In fact, I am in the middle of nowhere in California in my pajamas lol
You do have to be comfortable with technology. USC's tech department is very accessible should you have difficulty.
The professor is actually really good. Definitely an expert in her field. She had 3 masters and a PhD ? She was willing to stay on to discuss concepts other students may have difficulty. There were only 11 of us. We had enough time to ask questions.
I am only enrolled in one subject right now and I feel like I just bid goodbye to my social life. I do have a full time job. It is easy to fall behind with the concepts so I suggest one module ahead. I wish I can stop working and just do school lol I honestly still prefer in-person class but with my present situation (the need to work and my US immigration status) this is the closest I can get to physically being in school.
I can only speak of my experience. I will let others share theirs, especially those who are 1 or 2 semesters ahead.
