Hi! I got the call I was accepted in to USC's FNP program. I will be starting Fall 2017. Just wanted to reach out to anyone who is currently in the program or got accepted as well :cat:

They are pending accreditation we'll find out the status after the first cohort graduates next year. so it should not affect us. From what I understand they have staff that worked with the CCNE before. They know what standards need to be in place to make sure the program will produce successful NPs.

i was worried at first but this is a good school so I'm excited. I haven't heard back from any scholarships going to see if any more pop up in the new year since I don't start until may. Filled out my FAFSA stuff waiting to hear back

Hey Wildcat! How do you like the program so far? Your program started this month right? I was accepted for the summer cohort! Any feedback would be awesome!

i am going to apply to the program, any advise? I would really appreciate it í ½í¸í ½í¸

Hey Sierrarn13!

I didn't get much feedback about my application but I know I had some pretty solid letter of recommendation and I worked hard on my statement of purpose to reflect the values of the program. I have never shadowed a FNP which I thought would look bad on my application, but I guess it wasn't necessary. Let me know how it goes!

Have you looked at Charles Drew's MSN-FNP program? It's accredited and has a really high pass rate on the FNP boards. It's accelerated at 16 months. I'm almost done and it's been a great program. Tuition is high, but probably not as expensive as USC.

Hi! I just got accepted today. I take the bridge course May 2017 and Start fall 2017. Do you guys know how the classes with the part time program work-- for example 2 classes a semester? or 1? are they in 7 week increments or do you take both at the same time? Any information would be great! Also, any word on accreditation--does this make anyone wary?

thanks :) :)

I start bridge in May as well. Course Schedules

^^^^

this link link shows you the exact course schedule for part time. Looks like you'll be taking 2 classes at a time each semester.

They shouldn't have a problem getting the CCNE accreditation, they held a webinar the other day. They may have another one before you start and they address the accreditation question.

Congrats!!! I applied last week are you doing the full time or part time program? Just waiting for my references to get back to them. Wish me luck!

I'm in the program, I started in January. The courses are difficult, be prepared to be very challenged. I'm in the part time track, working 5/12 hour shifts every two weeks and I feel like I don't have enough time to master the material as well as I'd like to. I graduated with honors from my BSN, and as such, I had pretty high expectations of myself, but I'm struggling a bit and it's slightly frustrating. You really need to put in the time to be successful.

Faculty/admin are great so far. Be prepared to work your butt off. I have 14 years in a wide variety of settings, from primary care to ER, and it's everything I wanted in a program.

Good luck!

You are awesome!! Don't be too hard on yourself just do your best and get through the program. I have found that the real mastery of information comes when working with patients in the real world. I went pretty much straight out of school into ED and one expericene w a Gi bleed trumps the time I spent studying the material. Thanks for the response I know the program is rigerouse but you know you will come out a much better NP for it. Just Remember Cs get degrees í ½í¸‚. And everyone acclimates at their own pace. I hope to be a costudent soon they just submitted my info to faculty today. 1-3 weeks for a response ;).

Aw shucks. Thanks. I'm more concerned with making sure I get enough out of this class because the instructor also writes the pharma course, which is next semester. I, too, find that real-world experience is way better than reading in a book...I learned more about human anatomy in the morgue watching autopsies than I ever did with an ancient cadaver or overlay photos!

Good luck with your application!

2 classes a semester, a semester is 16 weeks. You don't get much of a break between terms (I have a break before May starts, and none after summer term). Clinicals for the part time track start in the third semester.
