Hey all. Applying next fall to 6 schools. I was wondering if anyone got in with a similar blackmark on their academic career. I was a paramedic for several years, have over 2 years in a busy 30 bed university level 1 CTICU that does VADs, heart transplants, tons of CABG's and valves, and SICU overflow. I have a 4.0 science GPA, nursing GPA of 3.8. I do well in interviews, write strong essays and am passionate about getting in. I also have a wife that makes good money and can support me. I feel as ready as I'm ever going to be. But I have this problem in my transcripts that I'm afraid might hurt me.
In my last quarter of nursing school I needed 3 credits to keep my full time status so I wouldn't lose my financial aid. I chose history of rock n roll (easiest class possible). With one week to go in class I was going to get an A in the class without doing the final project. Well, senioritis set in, graduation parties with some family stuff, and I decided to skip the final project. Evidently I did NOT see that in the syllabus it said you needed to complete the final project to the pass the class. F. I got an F in rock history. I found out quite a bit later.
I know it's not one of the core classes, but how big a red flag is this going to be to admission departments? Anyone have a similar story? Thanks!
