Anybody working/worked in the Rio Grande Valley?

We're thinking about moving back to Texas from California. Anyone with experience in the Valley? I've heard horror stories...and not about the weather (we used to live and work in Houston so nothing weather-wise scares me). My niche is the ED if it makes any difference.

Thanks in advance,

Get ready to work hard. We have no nurse to pt. ratio like California does.

Although we are currently trying for ratios. What part of the RGV are you looking at? South Texas Health Care System offers biggg sign on bonus but get ready to work hard.

Let me know what you have in mind and maybe I can lead you away from the wolves.

Good Luck!

We're thinking more Brownsville than McAllen--coastal primarily. In the ER there's no such thing as ratios so it's not a biggie. I've mostly heard that it's super litigious.

Here's a statistic that might blow your mind. 74 percent of all physicians who practice in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas have been sued by patients. Since the majority of patients in this region tend to be indigent, lawsuits are the quickest way to make some cash.

Both hospritals in Brownsville are busy, my friend loves the choas and worked at one of the hospitals for about 2 years. What about trying out the hospitals by doing a contract with a travel agency or a local agency. The local agencies at paying $40+/hr with not housing, you could probably get (or should ask for ) 35/hr with housing because it is a tough assignment.

Good Luck
