Hello everybody.

Quick question, Has anybody worked in Nantucket cottage hospital .please pardon me if i am not in the right place ie ( state).if you have worked in nantucket would u please let me know what it's like .espercially how expensive it is ? I maybe relocatin from london. England.i have a choice between California and Nantucket any bright ideas would be appriciated.

Hi caramel, Nantucket is an island right off the coast here in Massachusetts. I don't know what the pay scales are or the prices of homes, etc. I do know things are a bit expensive, because it is also a tourist attraction. Ihave stayed the w/e a few times and it cost a good bit of money for lodging and food, but worth it. You will need to take the ferry there from, just as you would to go to Martha's Vineyard..also another beautiful place.

Hope this helps.

Nantucket Massachusetts???

Been there once as a tourist! Lovely small island. Do they even have a hospital there???

I would imagine that it's a very expensive place to live with housing costs sky high!

Welcome, Caramel! Good luck with your search! :)

Yes, they have a hospital there. It is called the Nantucket cottage hospital. Kind of gives you an idea of how big it is. lol Sorry, I don't know the pay scale. I do know that things on Nantucket tend to be expensive since it is a tourist attraction. Plus everything is brought over by ferry. Also, trying to get on and off the ferry during tourist season is difficult. Also keep in mind that during the winter, the ferry may not run if the weather is bad. Having said that... its a beautiful place. Off season is wonderful. During the summer months it is rather overcrowded. I tend to take my minivacations on both Nantucket and Martha's vineyard. I love both places.

Pay scale is not great and I work with a traveler who just did a tour in delivery there. Not much back up..Takes about an hour from Cape Cod (Woods Hole) to get there by Ferry. Very pretty and VERY expensive, although as I recall I do think they have a dorm for nurses.....State of the Art machinery..Not a lot of nurses....Depends on how autonomous you would like to be.....For transfers to Boston or the mainland for serious emergencies, the Coast Guard is usually the helicopter of choice....Really usually too far to go for life flight, so often the Coast Guard will fly the emergency to the mainland and then life flight can take it from there....

Here try the website I am not sure how helpful it is but its a start http://www.nantuckethospital.org/
