ANybody recieved interviews for CSULB spring 2011?

Published

Hi, I was told by an acquaintance that interview invitations for spring 2011 BSN will handed out by september 20th.

THis does seem kind of early, but I haven't heard back from CSULB at all and so I was wondering when the interviews are. The CSULB lady has been very busy and hasn't gotten back to me.

Does anybody know if interview invitations have already been handed out for fall 2010 admissions?

Thanks!!!!

the interview isn't stressful at all. you're going to be in the interview room with 3 other pre-nursing students and 3 nursing staff members. They'll show you a short video and make you answer some questions (written), do an activity with the person next to you (following and giving directions), and a group discussion at the end- MAKE SURE YOU PARTICIPATE!

Everyone usually passes... if you didn't.. well then that means you don't speak or write English. hahah!

don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any more!

Okay, now I get it :] Thanks so much! I'm also a CSULB student, so yeah I have fear the transfers. I calculated my score (my friend went to the advising meeting and they told her how to do it) and I have a 9.08. One more question about the alternates though. How long does the CSULB students alternate list last? Like it's now October and say someone drops. Would someone get in, or does the alternate list just get bumped to only being considered for admission for Spring?

Do you know roughly when we find out if we got in? I heard that applicants for Fall 2010 heard like two to three weeks after interviews.

Thanks so much for all your help!

thanks again becka chung!

oh btw, lallen1231, i think i calculated my scores correctly, but just wanted to verify if i did it right. Do you mind explaining how to calculate the scores?

not at all :] first, science gpa is just the gpa...so like A=4, B=3, etc...out of 4. So like I have a 3.5 in my sciences because of my in progress, so that's 3.5 points. I'm not really that sure how to calculate the ge gpa, since I have all A's, but I think it would be your gpa divided by 2. TEAS score is the score multiplied by 2, and you move the decimal over two places to the left. So like my score was an 88, so 88 x 2=176, 1.76. You just repeat that with the math score. I hope this all makes sense haha.

lallen1231- you should get in! Your score is higher than mine by 0.07... shoooottt... haha! We should be in the middle of the pack. I am an alternate for Fall 2010. So say someone just got into the program for Fall 2010 and decides to drop out in October/November or something, then the person next in line on the alternate list gets their spot. So the alternate would basically replace them and have the same schedule as them- meaning the alternate must drop all their classes they are taking and jump into the program (must have all vaccines completed, CPR certificate, uniforms, insurance, etc.). The alternate list just lasts for the semester you applied for, and it does not get bumped into the following semester. If you're a CSULB student, you stay on the alternate list until the semester you applied for is over. Transfers get takened out a month before the semester they applied for starts.

Yeah for Fall 2010, we heard the results a couple of days before Spring Break- yeah sucked for me. I think we should be hearing the results the last week of October.

hseajean- no problem!

hopefully we all get in.

Thanks, but I am still so nervous. You never know what can happen! Thanks so much for explaining all of this. How did you get so knowlegable? And I hope we all get in too :] I loved to meet everyone at orientation!

lallen 1231, thanks! it makes sense :D

I hope we all get in too!

but still nervous about the interview lol

oh, i think lallen 1231 said your interview is on oct 11th?

mine is too! what time is yours?

i'm so nervous too! everyone says it's not that big of a deal, but still...so stressed :/

exactly!! i hope we all do well xD

what time is your interview?

No problem. I just ask fellow pre-nursing students, current nursing students in the program, and nursing staff members A LOT of questions. The nursing counselor, the one you book at the college of health and human services, is a very knowledgeable person. You can book an appointment with her and both of you will go through your transcript and other nursing program backups. It's a great opportunity to ask questions about what's going on within the nursing program as well.

Good luck to both of you! Keep me updated!
