I'm applying to WSU CON for Spring '14, and just took the TEAS over the weekend. Just wondering if I have any other company here? :)
Uh oh! I'm sorry to hear about your friend :/ I know how it feels to get a rejection letter and it is not the best feelingI guess its a good thing that they've begun narrowing it down and we haven't received a rejection! Does it give her a reason why?
She wasn't even sad about it because she also applied to Montana nursing school and said that she would rather go there. I know thats what I was thinking too that at least we made it further! She said they wrote that her GPA is low, but I dont think she took her TEAS test either, but they didnt mention that, so its kind of weird.
Well that's good that she didn't have her hopes up for WSU. Sending luck her way for the Montana school! Very weird that they didn't mention the TEAS, but maybe they didn't bother since her GPA wasn't what they wanted. Hearing that makes me so nervous! I just want to hear something already!
Yeah I guess they will at least consider us for the interview when choosing on the 5th when they meet. I know I am nervous about this too! but I also applied to Spokane Community College program since they dont do waitlist anymore and switched to competitive admission. I hope they at least give us a chance for an interview, but we are going to find out soon :)
It also depends on the pool of students. If theres a lot of people who have all 4.0's then it sucks for us! Haha but lets hope not. It's just that somebody with a 3.5 might be a better nurse than a 4.0 student, and they wont even give a chance to interview some people! My best friend is in the program and she said that one of the girls with all 4.0's said that if she knew that nursing was this super social career she wouldn't go for it. So I dont know, but I dont think that grades will always determine what kind of a nurse you'll be!
I'm curious what we're up against! I totally agree with you though, grades do not determine what kind of nurse you'll become. Nothing irritates me more than the schools that don't give everyone a fighting chance. One reason I chose WSU is because they interview. I think interviewing plays an integral role in choosing who to bring in to the program-- otherwise you're just another piece of paper with statistics on it.

Interview letters should be going out fairly soon, right?
