Any thoughts; LiveScribe pen vs digital voice recorder?

Published

So, I'm trying decide between purchasing a LiveScribe pen and a digital voice recorder. Anyone have, or know someone who has had a LiveScribe pen? Is it worth the price-tag?

For those who have not, but have had a digital voice recorder, what model would you recommend?

Any input would be appreciated!

I'm going to pick up a LiveScribe as soon as I find out if I have been accepted. I like that it links my notes with the voice recording. I will be checking with the school to make sure its okay, of course. I see on the livescribe site there is an add-on for OCR that you can buy for $30.00 I might consider that option, yhere is a 30 day free trial so I will use that first. I have heard OCR claims before and I will have to judge for myself before I pay for that add-on, but I have researched the pen and its the way I will be going.

I have a Livescribe pen and love it. Well worth the $.

I started using a new Livescribe pen this term and also think it is worth every penny. The price has recently been lowered and they are soon coming out with a pen that has more memory. There will be 1 GB, 2 GB, and the new 4 GB, pens. I have a 2 GB pen and came no way near using all the memory for my classes this term. When I bought a digital recorder six years ago, I could never get it to work and was unable to recoup my expense at all.
