Any Texas Schools Better for NICU Nurses?

Published

So I’m pretty set on Women’s Health or NICU being the future from my experience with the education and jobs I’ve already held; I have been googling like crazy and have yet to find any information on if any particular schools (BSN/ABSN) in Texas would be more appealing or prepare me better for being hired in that field… does anyone have an opinion or advice on this topic? I REALLY appreciate it!

Nursing schools spend very little time on pediatrics and even less on infants. Your best option is to find a nursing school that has a Capstone placement in the final semester. If you can get placed in a NICU for your Capstone, that will give you some experience as to what it is like to work in the NICU.

Hi

Can some please list all the easy or moderate to easy RN or LVN to RN programs to get in to in Houston Texas or surrounding areas? Affordable?

No nursing program in Texas or anywhere is going to prepare you for working in a nicu. Nicu is unlike any other unit in the hospital.  To be honest, nursing school barely prepares you to be a nurse.. nursing school prepares  you to pass NCLEX and very basic nursing skills .
Just find a good school with a good NCLEX pass rate. Make connections with nurses and unit managers while on clinicals so you can network to get the job on the unit you want. Good luck
