I was hoping I might receive suggestions/prop ideas, for a presentation I'm going to be doing. On the 21st I will be making a career power-point presentation about Neonatal nursing. I'd like to have props or something to pass around while I present, so that it's not just another pp presentation. We've been doing several each class period for the past couple weeks, and a lot of people are starting to dread that period of the class, because they've mostly been kinda of boring, lecture-type presentations. I want people to have an interest and learn something during my presentation, and to remember how great Neonatal nurses, and all other nurses are, in general. It would also be great if you could list where i could get them.

What is your target audience? High school students? General college students? Nursing students? Church-related education? You would probably need connections to get certain props, like micro-preemie diapers, 2.5 ETTs, such things. Just really depends on your audience.

I've found that everyone that comes to our dept that doesn't know NICU is fascinated by our tiny b/p cuffs and diapers I know that's pretty basic but you could start there. Then have weight comparisons in gms (some people like to use cans of soda, rulers for length, etc). You'll keep their interest for sure!

Various nappy sizes, tape measure, vest/hat, little doll about the size of a smaller prem. ECG dots and a picture of a little prem with the same dots, for size comparison.

I once took a bag of chocolate chips with me (or small bag beans). It weighed 400gm, which was the size of our smallest baby. It's a good visualization for people.
