Big case of senioritis here. My final exam is in 97 days, then I graduate 11 days after that (lol, have to make sure we pass the exam before we actually graduate!).

Anyways, I am a bonafide senior in nursing school now, as you can see, and I am just sick of school. I can't wait for it to be over. I'm not really excited for clinicals anymore, like I was last semester. They just bug me more-It's not like the real world, the care plans are annoying (no one really writes these in the real world, not like this anyways),at this point, there just aren't that many new skills left to learn, you know the deal if you've been to clinical. I just want to be finished!

I want to have a real job. I want to get paid! (i haven't had a real job in quite a while) i want to be done with waiting for test grades to be posted, to try to remember everything about a certain set of diseases in 2 weeks we have between tests, the pressure, the whiney people in school, etc etc etc.

I just want to be done!!!!!!!

97 calendar days.....

Because our University just invested in a multi-million dollar facility and the university is afraid that if the nursing department has a pinning ceremony that none of the nursing students will go to the "whole college graduation". They just want their facility to look good. It's all political crap. We were going to have our own and pay for it, but the university as well as the nursing dean said that we need approval from them. We petitioned and was denied. We are still getting pinned, but at our graduation banquet in our dress clothes. When we graduate with the entire school we will be wearing the same old boring cap and gown that the whole college wears. not the traditional white nursing dress and cap. I have purchased my own white nurses cap and white dress and plan on getting my photo's done on my own since our school is not doing this for us. We were going to take our class money and hold our own pinning ceremony off campus, but none of our instructors will come and no one has the strength to put anything together anymore. I have loved nursing school, and all the wonderful lifetime friends that I will have from this experience, but I hate my program. There is not 1 instructor that I respect as a nurse, person, or mentor. Can you tell I'm over it?

And these professors call themselves nurses? What r they teaching u all? NOT to care? Nonetheless don't let them get u down... I am so sad for u all...

I think I would send this letter to the President of your University AND make sure that it gets published in the campus newspaper! You should try to push some buttons! Polietly, but go all the way, as it seems u have already gone as far as u can in your school (dean included?) I wouldn't stand for it. The University needs to realize that they wouldn't have that nice facility if it weren't for the money that you the students paid to attend the University! Don't go down w/o a fight!

Whats really sad is that we are all such a close clas which makes our instructors even more angry. I think they enjoy the nursing classes when all the students hate each other and compete for who"s the best. When we went to them regarding the pinning ceremony we told them that if we cannot advocate for ourselves what makes you think we would be able to do it for our patients? They really hated that remark. Anyhoo, like I said, I am just over it to the point that I just don't care anymore. I can't wait until May. I think the school will be getting a nice letter from our class, but not until after I get that degree in my hand and have my state boards scheduled, because I wouldn't want them to just "forget" to send my transcripts into the board of nursing and hold me up for liscenseure. Just 3 and a half more months.
