Any St. Louis, MO area LPN students?

Published

Hey All...

I've applied at 2 LPN programs in the St. Louis area - Applied Technology and St. Louis College of Health Careers. Just wondering if anyone else from the area is working on going to either of these programs or if there are any other programs in the area I maybe should look into? I figure it's never too early to make some friends to study with and what not! I'm hoping to hear from Applied Tech soon as the classes start April 5th :)

Are you at the metro location or south location? I checked the pass rates for the nclex and the lowest rate was 98% for Applied Tech - do you feel you are under prepared for the nclex as a result of the course you took?

I'm at south. yes they are showing a good pass rate but you have to look at how many students were tested in those years... so dont let that fool you. there could've been 3 or 15 students out of 26 that passed nclex that would show a 100% pass rate for nclex. there is one lpn school on the board website where only 3 students took it in '08 and passed with 100%. so what happened to the other students? applied tech uses the hesi exit to weed out students that won't pass nclex first time. they need to get instructors who dont read straight from the book. i'm tired of hearing "i'll have to look that up" or "i don't know, what did so n so tell you?" sometimes clinicals were a joke! there are many of us who are busting our butts outside of class trying to get help. they've started using college network q bank. it's ok i like using saunders for practice questions. things are starting to stabalize now and i hope when you start you don't have the same problems.

one thing i can say is that you're paying THEIR SALARY. demand that you get what you're paying for.

I too have been waiting to hear back. My packet was complete since early December. I have been calling weekly to Rebecca to try to get an update. If anyone else hears back a yes or no please let me know..

Thanks,

Hope to see you in class in April.

Wow you've done your packet and still haven't officially been admitted? i don't know whats going on with that. i took the test passed it and got my packet completed drug testing and all that in the same day. this was last feb. got my acceptance letter the first week of march. i know they got about 200 or 300 applicants that took the test and are waiting to get in, maybe thats what's going on.

Good luck! :)

I talked to Rebecca today and she said they should have the people picked by next week. Apparently they had a hold up of some sort this semester and are running late on picking the 29 people. She did assure me that NO decision on people have been made as of yet, so everyone for the April class that applied is still waiting to hear back.

I also applied to the Applied Tech LPN program. I took the TEAS in October and my packet has been complete since November. Now it's February!! I got a 99% on the TEAS test, but they still have not given me any answer whatsoever. The waiting is driving me crazy. I guess that's good that they haven't admitted anyone else yet... so it's not just me...

If anyone hears anything... will you please post on here? Thanks!!

I'm sure you'll hear something soon. there were a few instructors that quit and let go. if they don't have anyone to teach it's best for them not to call in students yet. they have hired i think it's two new clinical instructors i dunno if they'll do lecture or not.

Good Luck, just hang in there you'll get in. :)

Rudy88 - will you be going to the met or the south tech location?

Sorry, hit reply too early :)

Kleiweke - thanks so much for all the info, I had talked to Rebecca a couple days prior and she wasn't sure, I guess if we all just take turns we will get the info quicker!

2BeeNursey10 - You say they use the HESI for an exit test. Is there a score you must get to pass and receive your diploma?

Rudy88 - 99%?! It would be hard not to get accepted! Was that just your adjusted score? My adjusted score was an 89%, and I thought that was stellar! Out of the 4 sections I was in the top 1% for 2 and not far off from that on the others. You really set the bar high!

Hi there! I applied to the MET Center. Maybe I shouldn't have said my TEAS score on here... I was just venting. I am soo tired of waiting to get in, though. I mean when I got my score I was really happy. Then I went to the interview and they were like, "We look at everything, not just your TEAS score." So that kinda got me a little nervous.

Now here I am 4 months later. Classes start March 1st and I STILL don't know if I am getting in. My boss wants to know if he needs to hire someone to replace me. My family is starting to think I fell victim to some kind of scam, like it isn't a real school or something. Uuuuugh. Hopefully I will hear something this week. :(

Heck no - if I got a 99% I would have started a whole new thread just to tell the world! That's great, you go girl! From what everyone else has said there has been some issus with the school and teachers and I know when I talked to student aid, gosh, she said it's just been insane around there. I'm sure you will hear soon (not that it helps, I know, it's so nerve wrenching!). All your waiting will be worth it! Let us know the minute you get your acceptance letter!

I'll be on vacation from the 11th until the 17th, I'm hoping my letter comes (with positive news!) while I'm away!

Thanks so much for the support! The waiting was driving me nuts. So... I just found out today that I'm in the program! Yay! I'm so excited. I know it will be hard work, but I am so relieved to be on the path towards a career in healthcare.

GOOD LUCK!!

That's great! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
