Any single parents travel with children?

Hi all! I'm thinking of taking a travel assignment this fall. I have two little boys, ages 4 and 7. I homeschool them, so school is not a problem. I just wonder, can I expect help from the agency in finding child care, such as referrals to nanny agencies etc.? Has anyone else been successful with traveling as a single parent with their kids?

Also, I'd appreciate if anyone is working with a truly exceptional agency can PM me and let me know who they work with and what their benefits are. I definitely need free private housing, two bedrooms would be ideal. I need to take my dog also. I would like utilities to be paid by the agency, and pots, pans, linens, furniture, TV, etc to be included. If I end up traveling across the country (I live in NC), free airfare and rental car would be nice. Does anybody work with an agency that provides all this?

Thanks in advance.

Jennifer

You can pm me if you want. Airfare for the kids would need to be paid for by you, as well as upgrade for the second bedroom.

Finding care for your children would be entirely up to you, I have never heard of an agency providing information for that type of service. Some hospitals have facilities on-site for the smaller kids but not the ages of yours.

Otherwise, I know of two that will do all of that.............. :)

Yes, this is totally correct info. You will need to secure you own child care. This can be tricky, as I have found out...my advice...research the area you want to go to and check into child care before accepting the assignment. As for the other requirements you have...negotiation is the key. And remember, everything ultimately is coming out of your pay....so, it is something to think about. Myself, I prefer to drive my own vehicle....there is usually a travel stipend and you can negotiate for weekly "travel money" that covers gas, etc. Make a priority list...for me, private housing and higher pay are the top of my list.... Also, "interview" a lot of companies....find out who will make you the best offer, and make sure they know you are talking to other agencies....competition, you know! Good luck!
