Any PhD in Nursing Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I just finished my last PhD application this month, and I wanted to know if there was anyone else completing applications and waiting. I'm hoping to make a little group of people waiting together to ease the strain a little.

I applied to a reach program, one that I think is a great match, the other two are really interesting and all of them offer great opportunities. If anyone responds to this, I'll be more specific about programs, etc. For now, I feel a little exposed and just want to test the waters!

Hi All! It's been a quiet thread lately, so I thought I'd bump us up to the top again!

How is everyone doing? I'm still working on my MS in nursing (Nurse-Midwifery), but have definitely found my passion in research. I've been invited to be a research assistant on a really cool NIH-funded project that deals with maternal/fetal health. I'm so excited! My advisor (who is also the chair of my program) is pushing me to go into the PhD program. I WANT to do it, but I'm just afraid to jump in. Does that make sense? My husband has his PhD and he is highly amused by my wishy-washiness (if that's a word) over the matter.

How are the current PhD students doing? Did you all earn your MS or MSN first, or did you sort of merge into the PhD program with your MS?

Hope you are all doing well!

Hi Calinp;

I know it has been a while since i last posted here and i hope that you are still an allnurses.com member of this forum. Your reply to my previous post has been very helpful during my application process to the Phd program and i followed all the advice you gave me :-).

Are you at UCSF now, and if so, is there a way i can contact you by email for a few more UCSF-specific questions? Thanks again.

That is right. Just take it one day at a time. That,s what my PhD friend told me. I will be starting my PhD on March 2010. I am looking forward for the challenges and I am kind of scared. Does anybody wants to share their experience?

Hi NPtoPhD, congrats on your acceptance to Yale! Also thanks for your transparency as this is the only blog I have been able to find that mentions nursing science PhDs and Yale specifically.

Now that you've been a student for a few semesters, how do you find the program? I interviewed there as well and felt it was such a great fit - definitely my top choice. The program seems very flexible and has a wealth of opportunities and commitment to producing educators and researchers alike.

When did you hear back from the Graduate School?? It's now mid-Feb and waiting to hear my fate is so painful! I'm pretty sure the admissions committee has already met. Do you think I could inquire to my professor of interest whether or not I have been admitted -- or take the silence in stride? I'm only concerned b/c my GREs are not super stellar... (very average, well except the AW was a 5).

Thanks for your thoughts if you get this!
