Any Ohio Excelsior Grads or current Students???

I'm from ohio but not currently living there right now (hubby is in the army) =) I'm currently in the program now and enjoying it! It's tough but doable as long as you make yourself a study plan and give yourself due dates...well that's what i do and it helps! lol

I enrolled in the northcoast/distance learning in Solon, oh. ( I live in Cleveland) I take my test trough excelisor college. I decided to do this route cuz I work 2 jobs and have little ones at home. I was definitly scared cuz i've been out of school for over 15 years but needed to do this cuz RNs were getting more oportunities. So far so good, I'm reaaly scared to death bout the CPNE but when the time comes, I'll just focus and b ready. If u need more advice, please let me kno, if I can do this u can too!

@Pixiedust0305, I live in the cleveland area also and just recently got something in the mail from the solon distance learning. I didn't quite understand it. I am just starting excelsior classes this month. Does the solon office help tutor or what?

I started in Feb 2010- Took Life span, Microbiology, A&P, N104 and will start N106 next week. I have will have 5 nursing classes left..

Hello Ahill

I decided to go with Northcoast tuturing(solon) cuz the class meets once a week in Solon. It is usually taught by an Excelsilor graduate..The classes I had so far - the teacher lectured, give out handouts and answers any and all questions-about the class and the whole program. I couldnt do the study on my own thing and then go take my test-this way, I talk to others taking the program and be on track..I tried to do the self study but I kept putting the studing off and off.

All test are though excelsilor college- If you could just self study, I say do it -I think going to class is helping me..so far im passing all my classes-what r u taking this month??

I am just starting soooo.... Nursing H&S.... and I am trying to get some GE classes done CLEP....Collegeboard bc its alot cheaper. Like $77 an exam...cant beat that! Anyways.... do you have to pay a fee to the solon place? If so how much? I am gonna start making deadlines for myself to start study and taking the test. I will see how it goes that way, if it doesnt work then i may look into the tutoring stuff. As for now i am trying to do it the less expensive way. how are you paying for excelsior?

Northcoast is part of Distance Learning-I called Excesilor and they said they have nothin to do with distance. It does cost extra like 300 for each course plus the cost of the course. Some folks save the money and just do the self study thing. For me, I tried and couldn't, I needed the other students around me and the teacher.

Hey Pixiedust!

I am right now doing some CLEP courses. Thought it may be wise to get some GE classes out of the way and then focus on my nursing courses. Plus the CLEP courses are cheaper through collegeboard.com and also college writing through uexceltest.com is only $85! for my english exam! I am trying right now to stay focused hopefully I do ok! I will let you know how it goes. I am trying to exam for english no later than oct. is my deadline. .... I will see how it goes. :yeah: Thanks for your help and advice.
