Any nursing programs that do not require an entrance exam?

I awlays have to wonder when a potential nursing student wants to avoid an entrance test - afterall, it is the first of literally hundreds of such tests you will take over the course of your nursing education, licensing and career.

Think of it as good practice for what is to come.

Most community colleges offer a non-credit skills course on test taking, if you have test anxiety of any sort, or difficulty with exams, you should check into that. The testing only gets progressively worse from the entrance exam - there is no point in avoiding it - instead, brush up on your skills and get in there!

Are there any nursing programs in or near the Atlanta area that do not require a NET exam, TEAS, etc.? I make As & Bs on everything but I do not test well during a "timed" test or if I'm nervous....this is why I'm asking. Thanks.

You are talking to the "queen" of getting freaked out over tests...I discovered it was the "unknown".

I personally, think ATT testing site is a rip-off, but they own the TEAS. I didn't use the study guide, I just went by the website and on here of what they test on...I got an 85 composite, which was in the 93rd percentile...at my school it was the 3rd highest score on the TEAS. I am a "B" student all day long.

The TEAS is not hard at all...but you have to pay attention to detail...alot of trick questions that can be figured out with ease if you just re-read the question. No matter how simple the question is, even if it's adding 2 plus 2...make sure that the answer they are looking for is 4 (I'm exaggerating but you get the idea)...just re-read it.

I too, was avoiding schools that had an entrance exam, but once you face it, it's not hard.

The entrance exam is the easiest test of all. Nursing test are extremely difficult so in order to pass nursing school you will have to learn test taking skills. These are skills that can be learned. You don't have to be a natural at it, but you will absolutely have to learn how to take test well to survive.

You know.....you are right! I've been doing some research on the NET, etc. and have learned that the NET as well as all the other tests given in nursing school are basically preparing you for state boards! I'm beginning to see the reasoning behind all these test now. I'm gonna get in there and practice and get whatever help I need by using any resources available to me! I have to disagree with the above about questioning the fact that someone is hesitating on taking an entrance exam. I personally am also an A & B student and I am petrified on taking the TEAS V test. I don't taking passing this test will make u a great nurse. Think for example, if someone passes TEAS with 90% or higher because they are VERY smart, will that make them a great nurse or are they in the field for the money? How about someone that REALLY wants to be a nurse? Now the NCLEX is different, that is something I wonder why someone want to skip. I rather have someone caring and willing to take care of me in the hospital than someone that just passes all tests easily with high score but yet they don't care for the job or taking care of people.
