Any Nursing Alumni From RCC,Chaffey,San Bernardino Valley College?

Since I got rejected from my first school I applied to (Loma Linda University), My next option was to apply to these three local Nursing Programs this upcoming Fall to start in Winter of 2014. My question to you is, How did you like it? Do you feel like you were really prepared to take on the NCLEX? Your overall experience? Also what classes did you take that felt helped you before nursing school? I' am currently a student at RCC (I love it there!) This is pretty much my last semester with the exception of taking 3 more classes in summer (Stats, Cultural Anthro & Health Science to get my associates degree) It would really help : ) I'm still not giving up on this dream!!

Which three programs did you apply to?

So far just Loma Linda, but I got denied. So This upcoming fall I'm going to apply to Chaffey, Valley, and RCC.

Keep your head up. I only applied to RCC but got denied, didn't make the cut was more like it.

@MintyGirl I think I remember you in a past post saying how it was hard to get into classes at RCC. You did apply got got denied? Im sorry to hear that :(If you don't mind me asking what were your stats? I just know of one of my classmates who just got in for Fall2013 with only 75 points.. thats how much I'm looking to have too. I'm hoping it is enough to make it in or even make it as an alternate.... What are your plans now? Have you applied anywhere else?

I didn't have things like my teas or hesi test scores so that could have been a factor. I was pretty bummed out but considering there is still a lot I can do, I'm not wiped out. I believe I had 82 points because this application the CNA was worth 20 points and that's what I was leaning on. I only applied at RCC because I was in the process of finishing VN-50. And didn't realize I could apply during that (so long as you had everything finished as far as pre-reqs by June).

@Mintygirl it was probably the teas that made it so that you wouldn't get in, you should take the teas and try again! Im sure you can get in. I went to the nursing orientation this past month, they changed some stuff for the LVN program. They no longer want nursing 50, but nursing 55. But if you took nursing 50 a while back i think you are fine. Just go ahead and call the department to see what exactly you need. : )

I'm done with all my requirements I just have to apply in the fall, but I'm gonna take classes in the fall just to get my brain still going...Are you in RCC right now?

applied in all schools and take it from there, but from i know, chaffey has a very VERY tough program, i met lots of students there that graduated and they say, they'll never do it again, some of them even say its traumatizing

just do your research and go to the actual campus and speak to students whom are about to graduate they'll give you good information regarding the school, RCC has a great program and so does valley along w loma linda.

Thanks everyone and yeah I probably need to take that test. I will, after my summer vacation. Ah I just need a break from everything but I totally will. And really? Chaffey was that hardcore? Wow.

@Coriaa1, Hi thank you for your feedback! I read some old postings here how Chaffey's program just sucked. Their pass rates are ridiculous because almost everyone drops. I heard from these past posts that its set up to make you fail. Idk how that can be, I think it depends on the student, study habits and just overall level of commitment and drive. But you have a good point. I think I will go back to the campus and get a feel for the advisers and students. Ideally I would love to be at RCC or Mt Sac. But Mt Sac has their applications on hold til the spring.

@Mintygirl I totally feel you! I just want a break this summer! But study for the teas you can do it! Focus on your Sciences cause I know for me it makes or breaks you and also the same for alot of other students and friends that took it.
