Any NICU info for Atlanta?

Published

Hi. I am relocating to Atlanta soon. I work in a level 3 NICU, and would like to work in a level 3 NICU at a delivery hospital. Does anyone have any advice about hospitals, and/or contact info to get me started in the right direction? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Northside NICU has a good rep. I would like to move to GA but I am not ready for the pay cut.

If you want a Level III in the biggest delivery hospital in the US, then Northside Hospital is it. It has an excellent reputation. I worked there in Postpartum and start on Monday in the NICU there.

Other choices: Piedmont Hospital (downtown Atlanta), Gwinnett Medical Center (Lawrenceville, GA), Wellstar Kennestone (in Cobb County), DeKalb Medical Center, and Grady Hospital NICU (downtown Atlanta with Trauma Level I, Research, and staffed with Emory doctors).

My top 2 choices would be Northside and Piedmont. If you want surgical NICU (non-delivery) then Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta has great NICU (Scottish Rite-all surgical and Egleston- surgical, cardiac, ECMO).

I would just search each hospital's website for contact info.

I agree with Disneyfan! Northside would be the 1st on my list as well....actually it is the 1st on my list! I'll be starting there in their NICU this Monday and am so excited. My mom currently works there and has been there about 10 years I think!!

OMG! I start tomorrow too! Are you doing orientation tomorrow? I am on nights and my 1st shift is Wednesday. I worked at Northside 8 years ago in Mother-Baby, but quit when I had my kids.

Hey- just wanted to add my thoughts.... I am a RN and just had a baby a few months ago. She was in the NICU at Northside and it is a wonderful place! I got to know alot of the nurses and they all seem truly happy to work there. So many of them have been on staff for years and years. My child got great care of course!

The NICU doctors and NP's are also wonderful and everyone seemed to work well together. So hopefully you all will have a great experience working there...and I am sure very rewarding. I swear I remember every nurses' name that treated my child! :)

I am contemplating moving from Nevada with my daughter to GA to work at Northside. Can oyu tell me if they offer loan repayment and if so how much a year. Also whats the starting pay at that hospital for new grads. I have read nothing but good things about it and wanted to work in Mother/baby unit. thanks for any info you can give

Anyone with the starting pay at Northside NICU?
