I am 1 month away from earning my BSN. I am looking for New Grad ICU positions that have good orientation programs. The few positions I come across are night shifts and my body cannot handle these. Does anyone know of any day shift positions anywhere in the US?

Good luck, I worked ICU for 9 years and was still night shift mostly. If you dont mind where you move to I am sure there is something available. Keep trying.

Florida Hospital in Orlando, FL has a great Residency program for new grads wanting to enter into critical care. Last year when I started I had no problem getting a day shift position in the Neuro Critical Care Unit.. and I know that in the Neuro ICU we have 2-3 day shift postions still open...if you don't mind moving to sunny florida check out the web site... www.linktoyourfuture.com

I'm actually supposed to be starting one in June at North Shore-LIJ Health System in Long Island, NY. The link to the program is http://jobsearch.monster.com/getjob.asp?JobID=28300722 (this is the monster.com ad....you can go to the company's website and see the ad there too). Seems like an excellent and exciting opportunity, if you want to live in NY. It lasts a year and it's a Critical Care Nurse Fellowship Program. Check it out.
Thanks for the great leads! I'll definitely be checking those out
LadyT I went to the monster site and it said: must be willing to make an employment commitment of 24 months, but you said it's a year long program. Do they allow a 12 month commitment as well?
No, you have to make a 2 year committment, one of them being the year long program. So basically you must promise to stay a year after the program is through. Hope this helps.

Hi, BAndersonRN,
What did you, or do you, think of Orlando? We are a family of five (three kids - ages 7, 6, and 4.5) thinking about Orlando as our final home. Also, how is the MDA/CRNA work relationship in these parts?

how did you get into this program,I sent them my resume last week but this far have not heard from them, also, what is the starting pay for this position?I am a new grad.
I actually saw it on Monster.com on Fri, 3/18 and then I attended the NSANYS conference on Sat. 3/19 and they had a table there. They were taking resumes, so I gave them mine. I heard from them 4 days later to schedule an interview. Did you mail your resume or did u apply online? I would call the number that's in the ad and ask them what's going on. However, that's how I got my resume in there. Let me know how u sent it.
